Hi goingplaces2gether,
You can use your GoDaddy domain on your WordPress.com site if you upgrade to a paid plan. You can learn more about domain mapping here: https://en.support.wordpress.com/map-existing-domain/
I hope this helps! Let me know if you have more questions about this.

Let me offer some info on this for you. So you are currently paying for mapping services and has a site hosted at godaddy correct?
If you were to transition to say, a personal plan, you would get the following benefits:
– Email support and live chat with Happiness Engineers
– More storage – from 3Gb to 6Gb
– Remove WordPress.com Ads
– in the future if you would like to switch to another domain, a custom domain is included with this planYou can find more info on other plans as well on this site.
Hope it helps!

@goingplaces2gether, if your requirement is to just use your custom domain name then of course domain mapping is the cheapest option.
However, with an upgrade to the personal plan, you get:
- 3 GB extra space (https://en.support.wordpress.com/space-upgrade/)
- Live Chat Support (https://en.support.wordpress.com/live-chat/)
Please note that if you want to continue using domain mapping, don’t let it expire. If the domain mapping expires then you will have no other choice but to upgrade to a paid plan (https://wordpress.com/pricing/).

Hi there @goingplaces2gether and @jamiepalatnik – Mapping is no longer available as a standalone upgrade here on WordPressdotcom. If you had a grandfathered mapping upgrade which has not expired, you should be able to renew it under Manage Purchases as long as you are logged in with the username account that purchased that upgrade.
The Personal plan has more features than just mapping a domain including more storage and direct support by Staff. You can see all those features and purchase the Personal plan here: https://wordpress.com/plans/goingplaces2gether.wordpress.com All plans are billed yearly at checkout.
Let us know if you need more help with this or have further questions.

And there I go again not refreshing first! Sorry folks. :)
You are not alone @justjennifer, it’s happening more now with the increased number of volunteers. Good sign for WordPress.com users.

Not if 4 people are answering the same question!
And one correction if I might. Every upgrade plan includes either mapping a domain you own OR registering a new domain name. Not both.

I think, this is the in-trend now ;)

tnank you for your replies :)
another issue here is that i already renewed (paid) my mapping through the email i got… but as one of you mentioned that mapping is no longer available as stand alone… does it mean that the payment that took place will not take effect anymore? and where will my payment go? (just down the drain?
by the way my subscription with godaddy is 9years…
how can i switch my mapping payment to an upgrade to Personal.
thanks so much again

Hi,
If you paid the mapping already and you are happy with the set op why would you change it ?
According to @justjennifer’s post :If you had a grandfathered mapping upgrade which has not expired, you should be able to renew it under Manage Purchases as long as you are logged in with the username account that purchased that upgrade
.
you should be fine.
If you weren’t grandfathered you wouldn’t have been able to pay for the mapping at all.
If you think the upgrade is useful don’t hesitate to upgrade to the personal plan. For your convenience here is the link that shows you all the advantages that come with the different plans: https://wordpress.com/pricing/ -
@dolgelukkig thanks
@goingplaces2gether if you already paid the mapping renewal, you should see a receipt for your payment in your Billing History here: https://wordpress.com/me/purchases/billing
If you do decide to upgrade to the Personal plan, please use the link I provided earlier https://wordpress.com/plans/goingplaces2gether.wordpress.com as that shows the pro-rated payment for the first year upgrade.
If you have any other question or problem with this, please post back here. Thanks.

unasked for advice/
@goingplaces2gether – this is perhaps a little off-topic but I notice you are using a Custom Header and have removed your site’s Title completely.Search engines are looking for your site Title and currently see that as https://goingplaces2gether.com/ Instead of leaving your Site Title blank in your site Settings, please power up the Customizer >Site Identity to add it there and then uncheck the box where it asks to display the Site Title. Save and Publish your updated settings.
Also, your theme, Apostrophe, has been updated. See here: https://wordpress.com/theme/apostrophe-2
If you have any question about the above, please open a new thread as this one has gotten a bit long! Thanks
