Mapping own domain now working
-
I’ve messed with things I don’t understand and I need help! I was on blogger (sub-domain pointing to own domain http://www.indianajo.com). I imported to wordpress and mapped the domain across ok and deleted redirect on blogger from sub-domain to own domain, but found this impacted my traffic. So, today I redirected blogger sub-domain back to own domain (trying to row back to where I was through Go Daddy, changing CName) then came back to wordpress to do the mapping back here again and now my blog seems stuck on blogger but showing on the tab as wordpress. I know I’m an idiot, but I could really do with some help getting my own domain mapping back to wordpress :( Thanks!
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there!
1st of all, you are definitely not an idiot. domains is tricky business, and now you’re throwing redirects and subdomains into the mix! It’s enough to make a grown man cry! :)
So at the moment, your domain http://www.indianajo.com/ is currently pointing to your WordPress.com site for me. From what you said, I think this is what you wanted, right? The issue may have been caused by delays in DNS propogation. If you still cannot reach your WordPress.com site at http://www.indianajo.com/, please let me know!

Thanks for the reply! It seems everyone apart from me can see the WP site. I’ve checked on my laptop, iPad and another laptop in the house and they all go to my blogger site. I tried over 3G on my iPhone (wifi off) and get the WP site. Do you think it’s just a case of me being patient (will need to order some more patience from Amazon)? I’ve switched off my router, flushed my DNS (advice from a friend) and emptied my cache – swill blogger!
And then there is the issue of losing all my SEO/Google traffic, but I guess that is a new forum thread?
Any thoughts or musings much appreciated!

Hi,
If you’ve flushed your DNS, then it could be that your Internet Service Provider’s DNS server is not updating regularly, or maybe your router is cacheing DNS results. You could try changing your DNS servers to Google’s DNS servers, at 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 in your router or computer, if you are comfortable doing that. Make sure you write down your old DNS information though, just in case you need to change back!
As for your SEO, we do not control Google and other search engines, so we can’t guarantee anything. I’d recommend using Google Webmaster Tools to keep an eye on any problems that Google might come across in your site. You can read a bit more about that here:
I hope this helps!

I’m sure this has been said before: you’re a very clever man! Worked perfectly. Thanks so much :) SEO I will leave to another day, just glad to have access to my site back. Cheers for taking the time.
