mapping problem
-
I started the mapping process not knowing how WP picked which blog to map to. In retrospect, perhaps WP picked the blog marked as primary. In any event, it appears that he mapped my domain to citydharma.wordpress.com. But I wanted it mapped to citydtest.wordpress.com. I have since deleted the site, citydharma.wordpress.com. But I still cannot map my domain, city-dharma.org to the correct site, citydtest.wordpress.com because WP press says my domain is already mapped to a wordpress site (which I have since deleted). So, my domain is now pointing to a non-existent site. How do I clear out this bad mapping, so I can map my domain to citydtest.wordpress.com? thx
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

I have flagged this for the staff to help you – deleting a blog with an upgrade is not good as the dashboard needed to manage the upgrade goes away – the staff can transfer the domain mapping for you
to help the staff help you the first time – please explain in small clear words exactly what you want transferred from and what you want transferred to
-
I have a domain registered thru Bluehost, city-dharma.org. I have already added the WP domain name servers at Bluehost.
At WP, it appears that city-dharma.org maps to citydharma.wordpress.org. I had mistakenly upgraded that site to Premium and did the mapping to it. I have since deleted that site.
I need my domain, city-dharma.org to map to citydtest.wordpress.com and that site should have the Premium upgrade.
One possible solution that occurred to me. Can I rename citydtest.wordpress.com to citydharma.wordpress.com? If so, then presumably the mapping for my domain would work. Correct? If so, then we just need to insure that the renamed site has the Premium upgrade (it may already).
Let me know if that would work. Otherwise, please direct me. thx -
Sorry, one typo above. At WP, I think the my domain points to citydharma.wordpress.com (not .org). thx
-
the staff have a good record of sorting these things out and transferring the upgrades to the proper blog
-
As noted before, I think a solution is to rename my site back to citydharma.wordpress.com. I think the domain mapping for city-dharma.org points to this address (which currently fails since I deleted that site).
I just tried to rename citydtest.wordpress.com to citydharma.wordpress.com, but it says “citydharma.wordpress.com” is already used. Which of course it was/is, by me (and the domain mapping currently points to it). So, I assume I need your support folks to do this renaming for me.
Until you do so, my site is inaccessible.
Thanks for your help. -
Please, I have been waiting for 2 days and my site is down.
As noted above multiple times, I think the solution should be simple. I suspect one of two things could be done: 1) rename my site, citydtest.wordpress.com to citydharma.wordpress.com (which I would prefer); or 2) change the domain mapping to point my domain, city-dharma.org to citydtest.wordpress.com.
Perhaps, I am missing something, but I thinks that all there is to it. And as just noted, I would prefer solution #1 (but WP will not let me rename the site because he thinks my old name is taken).
Please help soon. Thank you. -
PLEASE HELP. This was supposedly flagged for the staff on January 3. Our site has been inaccessible for 3 days. I would fix it myself, but I cannot. As noted above multiple times above, I think the fix is fairly easy for someone with proper authority.
PLEASE HELP. -
Dear WordPress Folks,
Please help us get City Dharma up and running again. Though this has been flagged for the staff, no one has contacted us and I am at a loss of what to do here.
The site is down now almost beginning FOUR days and I can’t do anything without your help. Please, please someone out there help us.
With gratitude,
Jisen -
What’s required now is your patience as Staff have a considerable backlog of threads tagged for their attention previous to this one being tagged.
Staff work through all forum threads tagged for their attention and through all email support tickets in chronological order based on datestamps and timestamps – first posted first served, as would be expected.
How long it takes to clear the threads and support tickets depends on how many Happiness Engineers are working on them at any given point in time. It also depends on how complex the issues in each thread and ticket are are.
Please don’t bump your thread by posting into it again because it’s not in your best interest to post to it after it has been tagged for Staff help. Doing that moves the timestamps forward and it takes longer to get a response.

Hi there!
I just took a look and you had added a WordPress.com Premium upgrade trial to your site before deleting it. I’ve removed this and the attached domain mapping. You can now add the Domain Mapping upgrade to the correct site here:
In the future, instead of deleting your site, you can follow these directions to transfer an upgrade:
http://en.support.wordpress.com/my-upgrades/#transferring-upgrades
Let me know if there’s anything else I can help with.

Appreciate the help. One thing unclear with Domain mapping that I could not find in the help. Where in the dialogue for domain mapping do I stipulate what wordpress site I want to map my domain to? I have two sites; City Dharma and Grievinghat. I want to map my domain, city-dharma.org, to the first site. But when I messed this up the first time, I mapped it to the wrong site. But I don’t recall being prompted to pick the WP site.
Tag on question. Will only my domain, city-dharma.org show in the browser address bar? Or will the user see the underlying WP site name? (If the latter, I might want to rename the site first to be close to the domain name.)
Thanks again. -
Upgrades can only be attached to one site. Whichever site has the Domain Mapping upgrade for that domain will have that domain. To specify which site you want the upgrade attached to, choose “Map an Existing Domain” here:
Then input your domain and select “Go”. The next screen that comes up allows you to select which site this domain will be attached to.
Will only my domain, city-dharma.org show in the browser address bar? Or will the user see the underlying WP site name?
Only the domain you’ve selected as your primary domain will appear. You can set this to be your custom domain, then you don’t have to worry about what your WordPress.com url is. Your readers will never see it!
Let me know if you have more questions!

I can’t thank you enough for helping us with all of this. I would like to delete citydtest.org and am feeling quite uneasy and want to be sure that I’m doing the right thing here. I’m all set with the site City-dharma.org and no longer need the test one. Please advise. When I wen tinto the delete section, I simply wasn’t sure that I was actually deleting citydtest.org.
With gratitude,

Dear Shawna,
One more question? I doesn’t seem like the City Dharma site has moved into the Premium stage. I use to have the ability to use font colors and now that’s not even there. We chose the premium package for a trial phase and would like to purchase it. Could you help explain what this package entails and if City Dharma is actually in the $99 premium trial phase. Also, what has happened to the use of colors for the fonts as it was part of the “free’ prior basic package I had?
Again with much gratitude

I would like to delete citydtest.org
Do you mean citydtest.wordpress.com? You can do that following these directions:
Nothing to worry about! We have you confirm the deletion several times before actually deleting so you can be sure you’re deleting the correct site.
I doesn’t seem like the City Dharma site has moved into the Premium stage. I use to have the ability to use font colors and now that’s not even there.
It looks like you have some custom fonts and colors active on your site now:
https://citydharma1.wordpress.com/wp-admin/customize.php
Are you still having trouble using the features of the Premium plan?
-
Yes, I want to delte citydtest.wordpress.com. What I don’t understand is when I go to “My Sites” and click on citydtest.wordpress.com then go to “Tools” – “Delete Site,” it doesn’t say which site I’m deleting so that is why I’m hesitating. I don’t want to inadvertently delete city-dharma.org. Yikes!
And yes, the Premium Plan seems to be working. I’m doing a “free trail’ and plan to purchase it. I’m not really sure all it has to offer. Is there a place I can look for more detail on the “Premium Plan?”
Again, many thanks for your help. As you can see, I’m quite a novice.
With much gratitude,
Rev. Jisen -
Since you’re in the dashboard for citydtest.wordpress.com when you go to Tools > Delete Site, that’s the site you’re deleting. You can confirm which site you’re in the dashboard of by checking the URL.
The WordPress.com Premium plan includes the following upgrades:
You can read more about each feature here:
http://store.wordpress.com/premium-upgrades/pro-bundle/
Does that clarify things? Let me know if I can help further!
