mapping question

    I am new to this. I have a domain name registered with NameCheap.com as: GourmetGiftConnection.com and I just signed up for a website with WordPress. I have 2 questions.
    1. Is wordpress used as a blog site only…can WordPress be an effective website or should I use another service?
    2. I paid $13 to map the domain name from wordpress.com to just .com, has this cleared yet? If not, what steps do I need to take?
