Mapping SubDomain: Verio does not allow CNAME entries

    I tried mapping my subdomain to an IP, here’s the entry:

    blog.thewhitehouseproject.org 14400 in A 76.74.254.120

    In WordPress, I try to add the Domain in UPGRADES, I get the error:
    We were unable to verify that blog.thewhitehouseproject.org is pointing to WordPress.com.

    Can I point to this IP Address? Verio states that I am not allowed to add CNAME entries.

    The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    I was able to add the CNAME record. The entry needs to be:

    blog.thewhitehouseproject.org 14400 in CNAME lb.wordpress.com

    ‘lb.wordpress.com’ will resolve to ‘thewhitehouseproject.wordpress.com’

    After the ZONE records were updated in VERIO, I waited a couple of hours (6 hours) and everything worked from the WordPress side within UPGRADES > Add domain.
