Mapping the domain
-
I recently mapped a domain I had with Go Daddy. It doesn’t really work well. I checked everything and paid for the mapping, and put the 3 Nameservers at Go Daddy, but the Domain is pointing towards the free blog I had. Am I supposed to delete the free blog i had? It should all point to one website. Right now if I search ‘the tropical flowering zone’ .com, it points to the free blog.
Mapping has its surprises.

Domain mapping will take up to 48 hours to work properly. Especially on your computer, since your web browser has probably cached your site for easy retrieval.
Also, it will probably take awhile for the Google results to reflect the change as well.

Right now I get the public domain’s address when I’m at the dashboard. Is that normal? Will it all consolidate to the main domain? Or does the dashboard always stay at the @wordpress.com old site?
-
When you are on the Dashboard you will still see .wordpress.com in the domain.
Everything your audience will see though is thetropicalfloweringzone.com

Okay, thanks for the great support. It still is not pointing to the domain, however (only through the public wordpress.com web url). But I suppose it just takes time doesn’t it ? If I search for the name in Google, it comes up with ‘no server’.
-
It does take a little bit of time for the domain name change to make it across the internet (called propagation).
Here’s what I see when I go to http://thefloweringtropicalzone.com:

It’s already getting better. What apparently suffers is the search engine linking up with previous posts. I wonder if Google does eventually link all previous posts with the current domain and server in the search engine, or will they become dead links? Thanks so much for this excellent support.

There’s a mistake now I see and it could have been on my end. Why does my URL address show “thefloweringtropicalzone.com” when it should be “thetropicalfloweringzone.com”. How in the world did the names get reversed? Can you please help me out with that? I could be DNS error.
-
I now see what happened. The URL is wrong. Yet, when I did the mapping, it registered as “thetropicalfloweringzone.com”. But the url now is: “thefloweringtropicalzone.com”. No wonder I cannot be found. The URL is wrong. Is there anyway I can get help for fixing this URL address? Thanks.

Hi Maria!
I’ve fixed the URL to be http://thetropicalfloweringzone.com/
If you use that link, you will see your website.
Please let me know if you have any additional questions.
