Mapping the domain: IP address required
-
Hi There!
I’m trying to set up our business WordPress website. Using the free version at the moment but will pay to upgrade once we have everything in order. Our IT service wants to know the IP address for the WordPress site so they can direct the domain name here. Your help guide suggests we should get in touch with you. Please can I have the IP address for craigieburncmc.wordpress.com
Thanks very much! Looking forward to launching our site!

Howdy!
When you’re ready to point the domain to your site here, you’ll want to accomplish two tasks:
First, you will need to add the “domain mapping” upgrade to your site here. This will help ensure that your site appears as your domain, and not “craigieburncmc.wordpress.com”.
Here’s how to add domain mapping: https://wordpress.com/support/domains/map-existing-domain/
Second, once domain mapping is added, you will need to add two A-records to your domain with these IPs:
192.0.78.24
192.0.78.25
These IPs can change over time, at which point your domain will stop working. Should that happen, please contact us again for the new IPs.
Once both steps are complete your new site should begin working at your domain within 24-72 hours. :)

Hi,
sorry to bug you again. Is there a reason why the address all of a sudden changed to
craigieburncmc.wpcomstaging.com ?
I’m also getting the following error – is this an error from your end or the hosting site’s end?
The server is temporarily unable to service your request due to the site owner reaching his/her bandwidth limit. Please try again later. -
Hi there,
Is there a reason why the address all of a sudden changed to
craigieburncmc.wpcomstaging.com ?When you install plugins or third party themes, we make some changes on our end to make that possible. The free address changing is part of this, but anyone visiting your original WordPress.com address will still be able to get to your site, so that will still work as before.
Once you set your mapped domain, craigieburncmc.com.au, as primary, people will see that instead.
I’m also getting the following error – is this an error from your end or the hosting site’s end?
The server is temporarily unable to service your request due to the site owner reaching his/her bandwidth limit. Please try again later. That’s coming from Unified Layer, where your domain is currently still pointed.
That should go away as soon as you point the domain to us, either by updating the name servers, or by adding A records with our IP addresses.
Please add the following IPs instead of those my colleague provided above, though:
192.0.78.153
192.0.78.205Installing plugins on your site also caused those to update, so those are now the correct IPs for your site.

Thanks for that. It’s fixed now. But when I make Craigieburn.com.au the primary domain, I get a message saying it’s not a secure site. How do I fix that?
Making WP address as the primary domain ultimately shows https://craigieburncmc.wpcomstaging.com/ which is an odd address for people to see

That happened because the security certificate takes some time to activate. I’ve done it manually for you so you shouldn’t see that message anymore :)
