Mapping to Old Domain

  When mapping a new wordpress website to an old domain name that I already own, do I have to upgrade from my free package FIRST, and then contact my registrar or can i contact my registrar first and map the old domain name to the wordpress address? how do i know what address/domain name to provide my old registrar to get it mapped to the right place?

  The first step is to choose a plan and add that to your cart, then add domain mapping. Each plan includes a domain credit which can be used to map to domain you already own — this will be included in the plan cost.

  Once domain mapping is active on your account, you can finish setting it up using the steps in this guide:

  how do i know what address/domain name to provide my old registrar to get it mapped to the right place?

  Asking your domain provider to add WordPress.com’s name servers (step 2) will connect your domain and WordPress.com site together.
