  how do I know what is best for me, mapping my domain or transferring it

  Hello there,

  Let me try to explain the difference between the two.

  Transferring a domain is just switching the company you pay its renewal too.

  Mapping a domain is changing the website that comes up when someone enters it.

  In most cases you probably want to do both for ease of management. Can you explain what exactly you want to achieve so I give concrete advice?

  To add to the above if you plan on building a site here at WordPress.com then either way will work (although to transfer a domain you do need to have owned it for at least 60 days).
