Mark Referrer As Spam not working

    Viewing the updated WordPress stats page, I noticed a link to marking referrers as spam. The page it links to describes how I can mark certain referrers as spam, by hovering over their entry in the Referrers section. However, when I hover, no Spam link appears, so no way to mark as spam is available.

    What is the URL of your blog?

    Exactly what kind of device are you using to connect to the internet and to WordPress.com?

    Exactly which browser (and version of it) are you using? Check here if necessary http://supportdetails.com/

    The device I’m using is a Windows 7 Home Premium laptop (fully updated) with Chrome 39.0.2171.95. My blog is on https://floriskleijne.nl/wp/.

    The issue has grown stranger. The hovering over referrer entries still does not work. However, shortly after I posted this, I was able to mark referrers as spam because a clickable ellipsis (three-period) icon became available next to each referrer. Clicking the icon popped up a menu that included the Spam option. However, this icon is now no longer visible. The two or three referrers I’ve marked as spam are still hidden.

    Looking further into the issue, I find that the clickable ellipsis icon is available for some referrers, when I look further back in time (weekly instead of daily stats). Current referrers are Facebook, Twitter, and Search Engines, and those do not include the clickable icon. Is it correct that it’s impossible to mark Facebook, Twitter, and Search Engines as spam?

    Which does not take away the fact that hovering over a referrer, as described in the documentation (http://en.support.wordpress.com/stats/#marking-spam-referrers) does not work. Perhaps that page should be updated to reflect the fact of the clickable ellipsis?

    @florismk

    Thanks for pointing this out to us. The process for marking referrers as spam has changed. I’ll update the the support document to reflect the change.

    Current referrers are Facebook, Twitter, and Search Engines, and those do not include the clickable icon. Is it correct that it’s impossible to mark Facebook, Twitter, and Search Engines as spam?

    We do have a list of sites we know aren’t spam so they don’t include the “Mark as Spam” option. Facebook, Twitter and Search Engines are all on that list :).

    Thanks again for pointing out the discrepancy. Let us know if you have any more questions!
