Markdown editor is white on white

I just discovered the markdown editor option for the Jetpack plugin. But when I tried it, I found only a blank white space that didn’t do anything. I opened up my browsers web developer tools to figure out if there’s something I could fix myself. I discovered that the CSS ‘background-color’ for the Markdown textarea was set to white, but the ‘color’ was set to ‘inherit’.

I’m using the TwentyTwenty theme, with a darker color background. The theme seems to automatically set the text color to white when the background is dark. I suspect this means that the ‘inherit’ in the textarea will give the text a white color from the theme.

Even if I change the theme to get around this, I think this points to a bug in the Jetpack plugin, since this is going to be a problem for many themes. The color for the markdown textaarea should be set to a contrasting color from white, rather than depend on ‘inherit’.
