Markdown not being applied to imported posts

  Hi,

  I managed to import a bunch of posts from my old site into my new wordpress.com blog. Many of these posts are written using Markdown syntax. I have activated Markdown in the new blog for both posts and comments (I did this before importing). However, for the imported posts, Markdown is not being applied now.

  I found that if I edit a post manually and click Update, Markdown starts working suddenly. But I have several hundred posts, so it’s hardly the best approach to do this for each one.

  Any ideas?

  Hi,

  I have not received any reply so far. Is there any other place where I can get support? Admittedly I’m not paying for the service on wordpress.com yet, but I’m planning to once I have confirmed that everything works as expected – would I receive some other level of support if I did this now?

  Please be patient. It doesn’t matter if you are a paying customer or not, you get the same level of support.

  Hi,

  As mentioned before, the blog is at https://olisturm.wordpress.com/. Check out the first two posts, they are very similarly structured. I fixed the first one (that’s the May 19th one) by making a minor change and clicking Update, while the second one (that’s the March 3rd one – but the same is true for many of the ones before that) shows obvious artefacts of Markdown not being interpreted.

  sturmoliver, I tested this in different ways, but I wasn’t able to reproduce… I checked the file you have imported on your WordPress.com site, and found that it was from a local WordPress installation version 4.3.1. Could you, please, update your local WordPress to the latest version and generate the export file again?

  I would like to check the file before you try to import again. You can upload to your Media Library, let me know when you upload it then I will access your site to check.

  Thanks everybody, this has been resolved by the support team – I understand they re-saved my posts to fix the markdown.
