Markdown support?!
-
Your help article says there is a checkbox to enable under settings-> writing that will enable markdown. This option does not appear on the settings-> writing page though?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there, the setting to enable Markdown is in WP Admin https://impactmammoth.wordpress.com/wp-admin/options-writing.php If you don’t see it there, please take a screenshot and upload it to your site so that Staff can have a look.

I’m looking at a site that is not hosted by wordpress.com — It does show up on the link that you sent but not on any other wordpress install I have set up with a 3rd party.

Hello @fpwsa,
Sites not hosted by WordPress.com are WordPress.org sites – while there are a lot of similarities, they are functionally different products. This Support forum and the WordPress.com support docs do not apply to WordPress.org.
My best guess is that using Markdown on WordPress.org would require a plugin, as it is not integrated with WordPress.org out of the box.

I hope that helps!

Hello there @fpwsa, it’s always best to give a link to the site you need help with when you post in the forums so we can help you more quickly.
As @helloimamanda mentioned, you will need a plugin to use Markdown in your self-hosted ORG site and Markdown is available as a part of the free Jetpack plugin. You can read more about it here: https://jetpack.com/support/markdown/
For any further assistance with your self-hosted ORG install, please visit the ORG forums or support documentation directly at https://codex.wordpress.org/Main_Page and at https://wordpress.org/support/
