mass delete all comments
-
I’ve operated our site for almost a year now and have accumulated too many comments. I would like to delete all comments from our site and start over.
How do I mass delete all comments made (and now stored) on our site?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hey there,
There isn’t a tool to mass delete your comments. You would have to go to your comments page, and check the box next to Author (as seen below):
https://cloudup.com/cCVaomAlIySThen choose Move to Trash in the Bulk Actions drop down. Then, click apply.
If you would like you could also turn off comments for posts older than X days using these instructions:
http://en.support.wordpress.com/settings/discussion-settings/#other-comment-settingsThen, you can avoid the accumulation in the future.
I hope this is helpful to you…if you need further assistance, or have other questions, please do let me know.
Thanks much.

Thanks Robyn, That’s what I thought, but worth checking to see if there was an easier way.
I’m getting “botted” heavily and it appears the only way to handle it is to sequester all comments with Alkismet, then go through them all and delete the spam (95%) of the comments). I already have the Alkismet settings as tight as I can get them. Next step, just not allow comments at all and use the Contact Us widget for those that want to comment.
Thanks again for your quick response Robyn

Ahhh, that makes sense. I understand why you’d want to make that adjustment, then!
I guess the downside of having a well-read blog is that these bozos are all over you.
If I can help with anything do let me know.
All the best.
