screenshot, old stats history graph for a post (shows 3 years)
    https://loopbraider.files.wordpress.com/2014/12/historygrapholdstats-3years.jpg

screenshot, new stats history graph for same post (only shows 10 days)
    https://loopbraider.files.wordpress.com/2014/12/history-graph-newstats-only-shows-10-days.jpg

Thanks for the screenshots. This one I’m clear on. The developers are going to work on expanding the main graph and the post details graph, but I’m not sure the post details one will get the all time view. I will make sure to ask for you though.

@ingridcc, thanks for the screenshot. That looks like a summarized view to me. Here is a similar screenshot from my testing where I do not see the total: https://cloudup.com/cqy2F92hiCD

Do you not believe me??? My screenshot is NOT of “summary view!” I can’t help that they LOOK similar, they are not the same thing!

Summary view shows a quick summary of 7 days, or 30 days, or a year’s clicks on all posts! . I agree, no daily total at the bottom is given because this doesn’t reflect TODAY’S clicks.

I am talking about the expanded view of all of ONE DAY’s clicks on EACH post and page. That’s what my screenshot was, it was NOT the
    summary view!!!!

My screenshot was of the bottom part of a page showing the complete views of ALL my posts and pages for ONE DAY.

The posts and pages module on the main stats page only has room to list 10 posts. I get views on a lot more than 10 posts every day, if I want to see today’s views on ALL my posts I click at the bottom of the module on view all or ‘other posts’ (old version)

This is NOT summary view (link at TOP of the module. omg.

Okay! Can you tell me the URL from your screenshot please? That would help a ton.

<sigh> I apologize for being so irate. It is just frustrating to try to explain so many times, when it feels like you aren’t really reading what I actually said, just reacting to what a screenshot “looks like.”
I don’t quite see how you can respond to or summarize our fb if you don’t understand what the old stats actually showed!

I gave it, right? I mean, that’s how you got to the screenshot, surely?
Do you mean the url of my expanded views of todays clicks?

    https://wordpress.com/my-stats/?view=postviews&date=2014-12-16

I didn’t think I was able to post that here on the forums, am wondering if it would get stripped out?

and here’s the link to the same page in new stats, lots of posts listed and no total at the bottom:

This is like trying to knit fog!
    How frustrating.
Quite clear WP staff do not understand the product or have the faintest idea what they have done during the so called upgrade!

Not every request will get implemented, but there are already plans to work on some key feedback items such as the summary tables, changing the graph so it shows more data by default, showing the countries graph on the main page, and other things.

Is this the reason we didn’t get an answer why you have thrown away one third in width? Can you answer if the new stats page will stay so small in width as a one column layout? Can you tell us the advantage of a one column design over a two column design? Is this something that won’t be changed?

No worries. There is a lot of feedback flying back and forth here, some on duplicate issues, and I’m just trying to make sure I have the details straight.

I gave it, right? I mean, that’s how you got to the screenshot, surely?

No, you posted a screenshot, but the URL of the page you were on wasn’t showing in it.

and here’s the link to the same page in new stats, lots of posts listed and no total at the bottom:
    https://wordpress.com/stats/day/posts/loopbraider.wordpress.com?startDate=2014-12-16

Thanks, that’s what I was after.

@apetcher, it’s more about trying to make sense of the feedback. Writing clearly and using specific examples and URLs always helps with that.

Is this the reason we didn’t get an answer why you have thrown away one third in width?

I noted that feedback with the rest. I think you may have posted it multiple times, so I might not have replied to all if some of questions were duplicates. Sometimes I just took note of the feedback. I’ve got my eye on all it! (as you can see from this thread)

Can you answer if the new stats page will stay so small in width as a one column layout?

I can’t. I don’t know the answer to that question yet.

Can you tell us the advantage of a one column design over a two column design?

I don’t have an answer for every single question. I know it was a design decision to fit with the rest of the WordPress.com dashboard design which is being built and created over time.

Is this something that won’t be changed?

You’ve asked a few times. :) Sorry I don’t have an answer to this question for you yet.

I am glad to see the map was incorporated. Any idea on being able to set the order of data modules? Perhaps give users a “Stats Screen Option” to order or hide data?

@pcosta88, re-ordering the modules is not a planned update at this time. Also, I’ve only seen that particular suggestion mentioned a couple times but I’ll keep an eye out for more feedback examples from people about that issue.

There is absolutely no point giving examples because you clearly don’t have the answers.
The point every one making is general rather than specific. Why did WP launch an update that was riddled with so many errors and omissions?
In management I was always taught to “get it right first time”. As users we can understand and tolerate minor glitches but not fundamental break down in the product.

I am beginning to have considerable sympathy with you – you seem to have the patience of a saint :)
How come you drew the short straw when it came to these changes….
2014 has for desktop users been dreadful all in all, so it is not surprising WP is getting a lot of flack.
You all seem to invite trouble with the changes, it is as if the negative comments come as a shock. Remember the image editing problems…….
Who ever does the ‘beta testing’ needs shooting because they should have picked-up most of these complaints – remember for everyone that voices a complaint. there are probably ten that just give-up and leave!

The point every one making is general rather than specific. Why did WP launch an update that was riddled with so many errors and omissions?

i am not sure why all these changes were made, other than to downscale WP into dunciad idiocy. + i am not even sure if wp is a software company or some sort of cult. i do seem to remember something about the founder being described as a social entrepreneur and poli sci major and musician etc. like, wow.

i would have have expected de minimus for a company of this nature that its founder be a comp sci major at MIT or stanford or cmu. drop out okay, but tech props required. sorry, but that is how it is.

    instead, we get social entrepreneur.

so why then expect actual normal paradigms in terms of beta testing, acceptance testing, etc… ? let alone sophisticated interfaces etc

beyond this, i am not even actually sure what kind of biz WordPress is. first there is this free opaque .com arm. then there is this pay .org thingie that seems to want to have nothing to do with the former. ignore if you can that ,org and ,com actually have historical associations that go contra to what is constantly repeated here about their differences. people are confused because the differences with respect to the tlds are brain damaged.

so all in all, i would, yes, moving on soon…. the latest slideshow screwup (tho now fixed) is but the latest example of the amateurishness of this outfit, one that seems to have all these volunteers answering repetitive and rather dense questions.

meanwhile, this apparently legitimate software co seems to have but 1 employed-by-the company person answering user feedback and complaints.

rip steve jobs. you would have found this inspiring no doubt. or maybe had them for breakfast, had you nothing better to do.

    The best feedback:-

You have ignored the questions of Dec 15, 2014, 9:14 AM and the reminder. The best feedback is to take those questions to whomever you report to, and ask them to provide an answer. When they realise that they can’t answer effectively, then they will begin to understand their failures.

Persisting in referring to change as improved or upgraded is a marketing ploy, based on the idea that if you repeat something often enough people will believe it. It is old, and ineffective when people already have the product in front of them. All it does is diminish credibility.

    Please answer some simplified questions:-

The new editor omits the facilities of “Add Poll” and “Add Contact Form”.

    Were these deliberately withdrawn ?

If they are not deliberately not, where the omissions noticed during testing ?

If the omissions were noticed, why was this not remedied ?

ahh h….Automattic recently got new money off the latest round of VC funding, so let’s not act like naive prigs.

they are playing a bigger game than paying attention to 100 views per day bloggers.

you know, operating at many different, uh, levels.

    ;-(

ps wish I had a 100 views per day

    LMAO
