Massive increase in views, while my visitors are very low

Hi there,
I’ve got a problem with my wordpress stats. Since a few months they give me a very high views count, while my visitors count is way lower.
For example:
Thursday, December 17, 2015
Views: 4.232
Visitors: 205Views per Visitor: 20.64
I’ve read a closed forum about this which says that it’s a glitch from Yahoo Image Search, but they didn’t explain how to actually fix it. (https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/sudden-massive-rise-in-views-very-low-visitors?replies=10)

Hi there! We did have a recent issue with our stats collection which has affected the views to visitors ratio.
The server that caused this has been fixed and everything since the 17th is accurate. The 16th is the only day left that has seen drastic effects from this. Our developers are working hard to determine if we’ll be able to backfill the stats for that day.

I might know why I got this bug. Because I’m using the build in gallery. Since I use that gallery I got the bug. Maybe the stats also count the views on every photo that has been watched in the gallery?

I did some ‘investigation’ on the gallery, by watching photos from the gallery on another pc and the stats indeed counted my views on the photos.
I can be wrong but I’m pretty sure the gallery is the problem.

Since I use that gallery I got the bug. Maybe the stats also count the views on every photo that has been watched in the gallery?
Actually our developers just confirmed that from this end too: when folks view your images in a carousel, each of those views counts, too. Good assumption!

@laurensvanheerde there’s no way to disable the carousel views counting as page views, but if you’d like, you could disable the carousel. It seems your readers like it, though, so I wouldn’t recommend that.

My blog-statistic doesn’t count ‘visitors’ (Besucher) any more since today, like it didn’t at December 17th 2015… There are more than 200 ‘calls’ from several states but only one ‘Visitor’.
