Hi there,
For the theme you are using, this is the support document that will help explain how to make changes, so long as the specific theme being used allows changes. For what you are asking, you would follow the instructions for custom header.
https://theme.wordpress.com/themes/twentyten/
This link is very informative on becoming comfortable with WordPress.
https://learn.wordpress.com/get-started/
Regarding your question about the topic having 2 posts… (now showing 3)
What that means is that there are 3 posts on this thread you created. My post to you will make that count go up to 4. In my opinion, it is possible that this is why it has taken awhile for you to receive a response. It makes it appear as though someone has answered your first question. I found this thread by coming across the other thread you created about not receiving a reply. Hopefully I have explained that clearly. Do you understand?
Best of luck to you!

mariahpierson Hi, thanks, I guess you are a user like me, not a wordpress employee.I need to deal with one question at a time. I do not understand the purpose of showing me this page. I see no instructions. I have been using wordpress for years but with one topic. Now I want to start more topics, ie Poetry, Stories. I tried to make a page for poetry but it does not look like Perspective, so I need instructions not general information which uses words for which I have no definition. Richard,
I’m responding briefly to just let you know that I will do my best to work through questions you have tomorrow. My knowledge of WordPress is limited, but I will do my best to help.
Yes, I am a member like you.
The links I provided to you are very informative. If you have time to read through them, they can be very beneficial to your learning and working with WordPress.
Until tomorrow. :)

Richard,
On your site, where you see the word perspective, that is what you have set as your site title.
When you say you are wanting poetry to match perspective, could you elaborate a little more? I need to understand more of what you’re looking to do so I can help.
-
1. Is this where I answer?
2. Where the word Perspective is, I would like the word Poetry for the new blog/page? (Also the way to change “Poetry” to a more reflective term later.)
3. I would like to place a standard picture below the word Poetry like the rural road used in Perspective and follow same procedure for adding Posts. I would send screen shots but I don’t know how to link photos to this reply. Richard -
Yes, this is where you respond.
I understand what you’re saying. I believe the only way that you can have the same appearance as your current blog, is to create another blog under your user account and make that one dedicated to poetry. You can add another free blog to your account.
Unfortunately, the masthead will only show what you set as the site title and one image you choose. It can only be either perspective or poetry or whatever you choose as a single site title, not multiples.
-
I created another blog. (I thought. I would send you a screen shot, but not attachment device.) The address is drdadvpoetry.wordpress.com. A first post is attached. That is where the problem started. The page did not have the same appearance as Perspective. I had no idea how to change this new blog/address/page to look like Perspective. That was the question I just possed. How do I change drdadvpoetry.wordpress to look like drdadv.wordpress Perspective? I would like a separate page, separate masthead, separate posting for Poetry, but I would like the same page format, same posting proceedure, so I can add new poems every day/week, etc.
-
Ah, I gotcha. I didn’t realize you had already created another blog. I will look in to this for you as soon as I get to my computer. It won’t be long. ;)
-
Part of the problem is I don’t know for sure If I created another blog.
I created something. It said Perspectivepoetry at first, then I changed or added drdadvpoetry. I tried to title it “Somewhere along the way.” as if the poems were bit of life gathered somewhere along the way. You are being very kind Mariah Pierson. I am adding my email (email visible only to moderators and staff) if wordpress will let me so I can send screenshot for you to see what I am look at. -
You are most welcome. I enjoy helping out. ;)
I am seeing https://drdadv.wordpress.com/ and https://drdadvpoetry.wordpress.com/
I’m going to help you in steps, as to not overwhelm you. The very first difference I see is that you are running different themes.
You have the theme Twenty Sixteen running on the poetry blog and Twenty Ten on the other one. That will cause them to look different.
Are you wanting the theme for the poetry blog to match the other?
-
Just to make sure you don’t miss it… I’ve responded twice (This one and the one above)
While waiting for your response, I messed around with a site I have dedicated to helping answer questions. I normally have it set to private, since it’s typically a jumbled mess. I test out what users are trying to accomplish so I can see it in real time myself. Once I get you squared away, I will delete whatever I have done and put it back to private.
Take a look at this https://mariahthemetest.wordpress.com/ and tell me if this is the general idea of what you’re wanting your https://drdadvpoetry.wordpress.com/ to look like.
I’m assuming you would like a different image for your poetry site, but wanted to keep it the same so you have an easy reference to look at for now.
:)

https://mariahthemetest.wordpress.com/ is the correct (ie same as Perspective) format for masthead of Poetry blogs (is that what they are called, blogs?) It is also the correct (ie same) format for linking up with and adding posts. I want to change the picture in the mast head to something. Bear in mind I do not know what a theme is, I do not know what theme twenty Sixteen or Twenty Ten means. I think of a theme as blogging or as poetry or short stories. These two could also be called categories. To me a theme is not a picture, but can be underscored by a photo creating an ambiance/tone. Subject matter 1. Perspective: Bloggs/essays, 2. Poetry/Somewhere along the way: Poems/PoeticProse, 3. Short Stories. So, Mariah Pierson; I would like a page to send out each of the three topics, each with a different photo/picture in the masthead, and each with the same format and procedure for adding new posts.

When I reread what I have written I not only notice misspellings, but entire words are missing from what I think I typed. I can also see that starting off with an address does not tell you the copied address should stand for the words… “what I found on that address.” After “something” I left out the word…”else.” “I do not know what a theme” means I don’t know what wordpress’ definition of theme means. Subject matter should have the colon after matter, then a semicolon after each of the titles like Perspective, Poetry and Stories.
I also assume the word Poetry in your layout would be replaced with the title of each poem as posted. -
Not to worry, I will help you figure it out.
You currently have two blogs that we’re talking about. As you refer to them like this…
Perpspective = one blog.
Poetry = one blog.A theme is your layout. It controls the look of your site. Colors, fonts, location of boxes, things like that.
With WordPress, there are a lot of themes to choose from. Hundreds…
To get the same theme you are currently using on perspective on your poetry blog follow below.
First, make sure you are ON https://drdadvpoetry.wordpress.com/ to make changes to THAT blog.
Second, click on this link. It will take you directly to the theme you are using on your perspective blog and you will be able to activate it on your poetry blog. https://theme.wordpress.com/themes/twentyten/
Now, you should see the option to ACTIVATE that theme. It should be a button to press with the word activate. Click there.
Let me know how that goes and then we will proceed.
Regarding the poetry posts over and over on the blog I created to show you, I just made multiple posts using the same title as poetry to reflect what your poetry posts would eventually look like.

I have to keep four windows open to follow your instructions or I cannot see what you have told me to do.
First opened drdadvpoetryblog. Link on your email was not live. Cut and pasted link into address box at top. Page opened to perspectivepoetryblog. with First blog post and below pic of ocean scene. Not the same as the page you sent before. Note: I want to change drdadvpoetry.wordpress. layout to same as what you sent before so I am not stymied.
Second, theme.wordpress.com/themes/twetyten was also not live. Cut and pasted as before. Page now opened Themes with standard information and Activate button. P
Third, pushed Activate button. I don’t remember what that gave me but I am back posting what has happened to date and confused.
Forth, I need a themes page where it shows how to chose the picture to put into the drdadvpoetry.wordpress page your previous post showed me. At this point I have to go back and try to remeber too much. -
Awe, I’m sorry it’s so confusing.
I went to your poetry page and see you have successfully activated the theme. The layout should now look the same for you on BOTH your blogs. Congrats!
Are you wanting to keep the snowy forest picture, or change it?
On the top left of the blog where you have the words Perspectivepoetryblog. Do you want that to say something different?
-
As you can see from my last post. I am back to being confused and since I can send you what I see I can’t tell you what the problems is.
Bear in mind in trying to set up the poetry blog page I may have opened two address: perspectivepoetry and drdadvpoetry. I need to delete. the perspectivepoetry address.
