Let me start with thank you for your help. I am responding to your email last to first. Under the Meta was sign in/out. From Sign in/out it went to Posts, Add, and opened the same as on Perspective. The way it opened had a place to expand to Facebook. I am comfortable with the form of opening, posting, etc on Perspective. So in lieu of Meta, where do I sign in? Let me go to the other emails before you answer. What can I do in return for your instruction/guidance?

None of the images work for me. I have a photo I use on my poetry book, but it has to be cropped to fit this size layout and then I have to figure out how to download and insert it. You can see I deleted Once….then tried to tighten spacing only to come out with a finished product that does not flush left. Now I have to find sign in for drdadvpoetry, posts, new, publish, add Facebook.

You’re very welcome.
I was working on something and completely caught up on it, but figured it out.
For the meta widget, it looks like it comes with your theme by default. It actually comes with archive and meta. When you added the recent posts widget, it removed the other two. If you would like to have the meta widget on your page, you can remove the recent post widget and the other two should pop back up.
In regards to signing in/out. You can either hover over your image icon in the top right corner, then select sign out or you can go to https://wordpress.com/me/ and sign out from there. It will be on the left side of your screen.
You can switch between your sites by hovering over My Sites in the top left corner. You will see the option to switch site.
Regarding your header image (winter/snow scene) When you go to make that change, they have suggested images to select from, too. You can choose one of those, then hit save and publish. Your theme recommends a header size of 940 × 198 pixels.
What can you do in return for my help? A thank you was just fine! :)

On Perception (drdadvwordpress.) At the bottom right is the word: “Meta”….and under Meta are the following topics are listed • Site Admin • Log out • Entries RSS • Comments RSS • WordPress.com
On this page Log out links to Username/Password, linking Log in to Dashboard. As stick pin symbol opens Posts, and underneath New Posts opens up Enter title here,. a box for blog, and a Publish button which includes Facebook. What does Meta is a widget mean? What does it comes with archive and metal mean? What does when you added recent posts widget it removed the other two mean? How do I remove the recent post widget if I do not know what a post widget is? ‘Right now the problem I seem to have is how to make the poety spaced lines typed in a new post appear the same way on the published page. As you can see in drdadvpoetry. the lines are not all flushed left. I have another problem with a wordpress page that won’t Leave this page or close so I have to shut off the computer.

What is a widget?
“Widget is a fancy word for tools or content that you can add, arrange, and remove from the sidebar(s) of your blog. Widgets make it easy to customize the content of your sidebar(s). You can learn more about the widgets we offer by checking out the Related links on the right.”
IF you want the Meta Widget and Archive Widget to show up on your site, you need to remove/delete the Recent Posts Widget, which is currently activated on your blog. To access widgets – go to My Sites, then Customize. Click on Widgets. I believe the one you will be looking for will be under Primary Widget Area. As I said, look for Recent Post Widget there (you may have to click on it once located) and remove/delete it. You should now have the Archive and Meta Widget show back up.
This support document also explains how to find and install widgets.
Just note that if you try to install a different widget at some point, it’s going to remove the Meta Widget and there is no option to add it since it is retired. The Meta Widget on Perspective looks different than the one you can add back on to your Poetry page. I’m assuming because it’s retired.
The theme (overall look of your page) comes with the Meta and Archive Widget on it.
I’ll look in to getting your spacing/lining situated.

I believe the problem with your poem is that you copied and pasted it into the editor.
You can copy and paste it in to the text part of the editor and that should correct it.
To get to the editor I am speaking of, go to your admin dashboard:
https://drdadvpoetry.wordpress.com/wp-admin
Click on Posts, then All Posts. FInd your poem, then hit edit. Or simply click on the title. When it opens, you should see two tabs on the right side in the corner of that editor window. Visual and Text. Click on Text. Copy and paste your poem there and then hit update.
Hope that works!

I have to open three windows 1. to keep instructions where I can see and refer to them concurrent with 2. opening the document to findMy Site, Customize, Widgets, Primary, Look for Recent Post Widget and 3. to type in what I find with questions. All three are in front of me. On item 2. I see Recent Posts • 16 july 24,2016
• 4 July 24, 2016 and a stub of a pencil which must mean it is the edit symbol. Clicked on edit symbol and left side of page. Do not see anything about Recent Post, remove/delete either one of the dates. Now I have to stop and go back to you before going on. -
I now have a document with WordPress document address for reference and a document to read to understand widgets. I don’t want to be demeaning but WordPress continues to not strike me as a user-friendly system.
On to Regarding header image (winter/snow scene) If I want to use my own artwork where does it download, preview, and save. Theme recommends a header size of 940 × 198 pixels. I will leave the header to later.
I posted the poem by cut and paste into area below the rectangle that reads Paragraph. You said I pasted into the editor and not into the text part of the editor. Unlike Perspective, the text part is not titled, but It looks like the area below the rectangle above mention is the text area. The problem is cut and past is from Word on a Mac where the leading is different than WordPress and when you click Return it jumps down more space than continuing on the same like to the next as a result the break is different. I need a sample of what someone typed, cut and pasted, then published. The first time I cut and pasted the lines included too much leading. I revised each line by line and they came out wrong in publish. I will try another poem.

I have lost track of where posts are, my fingers are going numb and I want to hit the screen. I am going to stop for now.

I’m sorry it’s frustrating for you. I too have several windows open working through how to do certain things, then doing them on the site and referring back.
There are A LOT of support documents like the one I mentioned about the widgets. Just about anything you need to learn can be found there. I have done a lot of reading up to learn where I’m currently at today.
Have a look at these two links, as I think they can benefit you.
When you asked about uploading your own picture for your header image… Are you asking how to insert the image you have chosen from your computer?
-
Hi. Good morning (here). I suppose what I would be referring to would be art work that is in my computer. (Incidentally, are all the postings above going to stay accessible to me for reference? If so maybe I should wait until I have the image and then get back to you. I also don’t know whether I am abusing the post privilege time and numbers level. https://mariahthemetest.wordpress.com is how I make contact or How?

My Sites, Customize, Header Image, Add new image. You can choose to upload files, or select one from your media library (one you have already uploaded)
If you choose to upload one, make sure you take a look at the specifications that pop up. Certain files types, maximum size, etc. Click on select files, then go to wherever your picture is stored on your computer. Select pic. It will pop up in your media library.
If you choose one you have already added to your media library, then you just click on it and hit select and crop. Crop image, then save.
If you bookmark this thread, then you can refer back to it as often as needed. It will eventually be closed, but you can still see everything, just not respond.
Once finished here, if you have more questions in the future, it would be best to post your question in the forum like you did originally with this question. That way you can receive a quick response. There are a lot of volunteers and also Staff that work through all the questions asked.
The themetest page is always set to private since I just use it for answering questions. ;)

Hi, Where is: (in 2nd para above) Click on “select files?” I don’t see a select files under “Header Image” or on header page. I assume that once I am at location of select files, something will indicate where pic is stored and offer choices to select pic. Where is your (my) media library? Is this post response of yours called a thread? Normally I only understand bookmarks for quick access to apps? along the top bar. Once finished here? sounds like I am to post any future questions in the forum like I did originally, which I have no idea how I did it before, but suppose I will find it somewhere again. Thanks.

Here’s a link explaining more info on custom header images. It walks you through in more detail.
Your media library can be accessed by going to your dashboard. Using /wp-admin after your sites URL Like so:
https://drdadvpoetry.wordpress.com/wp-admin
On the left sidebar, hover over media, then select library.
Link explaining in more detail of what you can do with media:
I don’t currently have any way of contact through WordPress, but I can always check to see if you have any open threads (questions asked I’m support forum) by clicking on your name. ;) If I’m around, I’ll help you out.
This is how you get to the forum to ask a question…
https://en.forums.wordpress.com/forum/support
As far as bookmarking goes, you should have something on the top right hand corner of the page your on and you can save it as a bookmark that way. On my computer, there’s a star in the top right corner.
One of the first links I originally sent to you had a lot of helpful information regarding getting started with WordPress. The information walks you through different steps to become more comfortable with working your way around.
From the link above you can click on the words in blue and they’ll open up different things you can learn about. It even has WordPress lingo, Which explains a lot of different terms used in the site so you have a reference to what they are.
Hope you’re having a good day!

My phone has a bad habit of randomly autocorrecting the word in to I’m. Haha. Sorry about that.
-
-
But I don’t understand what words, if they were mine, were autocorrected. Did something I wrote go to your phone?
-
You’re most welcome.
I’m responding to you on my phone and when I typed the word “in”, it changed it to “I’m” and I didn’t notice until after sending my message to you. ;)
