Mature Content Warning
-
A few weeks ago I sent a message to support asking to have some sort of warning put on my blog to mark it as mature content. I haven’t heard anything from anyone about it, and nothing has happened. I know at some point I read somewhere that I am supposed to send a message to support if I need a “mature” warning. Could someone please give me some information?

You generally DON’T hear back. They just change the settings and that’s that. I see they haven’t changed yours, so I clicked the “REPORT AS MATURE” button to report you, with a link to this forum post. That should expedite the process.

Hi. I’m in the same boat as annetenino. I just posted some mature content, and I propably will in the future. I’ve been looking around as to how to get a warning posted – very frustrating. I think I reported myself as mature, though I’m not sure. I will be very grateful for any help! This is on my blog at sylvre.com only (Lou Sylvre, Author). None of my other blogs have mature content.

How can I help you? Tell you if the content is mature or not? Only staff can make the call, so wait till the contact staff form opens up again probably Monday and ask them.
If you just want to warn people, just make a paragraph at the top of the individual post OR a sticky post or Alert.

Thanks. Can you explain to me what it is you did “clicked the report as mature… with a link to this forum post.” I don’t see a way to add a link. I know the content is mature, so I’m not waiting for someone to make a judgment call on that. If you can tell me how to do what you did, that would be great. If not, thanks anyway.

I’m in the same boat as lsylvestre — I’m an erotica author: my work is definitely mature. I have no problem putting some kind of warning on my page myself, I just can’t figure out how to do it. And I’m not about to begin every post with “This content is suitable only for people over 18 years of age. Please do not read further” blah, blah blah. I’m a little frustrated, because I’ve been trying to deal with this for a couple of weeks.
Thanks-

You go to your website, look at the grey Admin bar, and under Blog Info, there’s “Report As Mature”. Click that and fill out the form.

Once again, thanks. That “report as mature” is what I clicked before I came asking questions. I tried it again (three times), but I don’t get a form to fill out. So, I don’t know what to think. Maybe it already has a warning? I’ll just wait until Monday and hope I can resolve it then. If you have any other suggestions, though, I’d love to hear. I do very much appreciate your efforts.

Thanks, Raincoaster, but I’ve done that and had it done for me. Nada.
Lsylvestre, I just went and changed my theme to “Clean Home”, and went to “Appearances” on my dashboard, selected “Widgets”, then dragged the “Text” widget to the “Header” area on the menu on the right. Once it was there, I filled out the Title and text areas, and now it’s showing up on my blog (http://annetenino.wordpress.com).
I figured all this out by typing “Alert” into the search form after I had gone (yet again) to support. There’s a support post with a number of themes listed that have similar features.
Good luck!

@annetenino:
I went to your blog. Yep! Mature. :-) If you click on the “Blog info” link in the gray bar at the top of your blog window, you can see “Report as Mature” in the dropdown. Click on that, and a wordpress form appears asking you why you are reporting the content as mature. (I did not report your blog as mature, but you can do it for your own blog.)Hope this helps.

It’s probably a good idea to have both. One keeps people from easily stumbling into your blog unawares, and the other warns them once they’re there. :-)
-
You’ve both been approved as Mature: your names in the forum no longer link to the blogs. THat’s the sign.
