Max. size of 1pg. image for theme background in wordpress
-
What is the maximum size for 1 pg. image for conversion to a wordpress background wallpaper for any theme template? It seems that if the image is too small, wordpress software will convert it to tiling/repeating it. I don’t want that. Just 1 image that I create.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

If your theme has the option of uploading a background, you should also see the option for “no repeat”. If you have a particularly small image, WordPress.com will not “stretch” or resize the image like a windohs wallpaper.
Using a fixed background, I make it a width of at least 1024 pixels. I’m going on this info from W3Schools browser display statistics http://www.w3schools.com/browsers/browsers_display.asp
If your visitors resolution is less than that, the edge of the image will be cut off. If larger than that, they’ll see whatever background color you’ve chosen.

With large images, the file size can become an issue and slow down the loading of your site, so always be aware of that given that a good number of people are still on 1MB or less connection speeds. Try to keep the image under 100k in file size.
Also, choose a background color to go with the image that blends nicely at the edges because if people on large monitors such as mine (2560px wide) have the browser window set wide, they will see the edges of the image.
Definitely do NOT use an image 2560px wide as there is almost no way to get an image that wide under 300k, and people will get impatient waiting for that image to load.

Thx!
I don’t use photo imaging software in an in-depth way. So still have to figure out how to reduce file size to 100k even after lightening, reducing shade variations, resizing, etc. -
