May I advertise on my WordPress blog if I host through GoDaddy?
-
Hello,
I’m still a little bit confused about the policy on advertising. I would like to run advertisements on my blog (which has not launched officially on WordPress yet…We are currently using Blogger) that a media company has contacted me about, but I want to know for sure that I am allowed to do this before I say “yes.” I understand that I cannot place advertising on my site if it is hosted on WordPress, but if I switch to another host, say, GoDaddy.com, am I allowed to do as I please (so long as it stays within the guidelines: no cashfree, 1 million clicks, spam-like ads, of course)?
Thank you!

WordPress.com is a web host that disallows blogger-initiated ads.
Godaddy is a web host that allows it.
They’re totally separate. If you’re at one, you’re not at the other and the restrictions don’t apply to you.

Thank you for the quick response! Just to clarify:
If I host my WordPress-powered blog on GoDaddy.com, I can do as I please?

Please go to the Go-daddy site and read their Terms of Service. They aren’t of concern to us here because we deal only with WordPress.com issues on this forum.

You will be using software from WordPress.ORG on that Godaddy site, and there are no anti-ad restrictions on using the software. It’s the web host that puts those kinds of restrictions on.
