You will have to log out.

Without logging in register a new username account using a different email address http://wordpress.com
Then register a blog under it. -
Thank you. I had hoped to keep it on the same account & email address, but no such luck, huh? Oh, well.

Your username is your actual name so using it will not achieve what you want. What you can do is delete your existing blog or make it private. Then deactivate your existing account so you can use the email address to register another one.
To delete a free hosted WordPress.COM blog you must be logged in under the exact same username account that registered the blog.
http://en.support.wordpress.com/delete-site/Deleted blog URLs are not recycled, regardless of who registered and deleted them and no exceptions are made.
http://en.support.wordpress.com/recycling-blog-names/Alternatively, to change blog visibility to private go to > Settings > Reading scroll to Blog Visibility and choose option 3 . See the guide here http://en.support.wordpress.com/settings/privacy-settings/
Registering an account here required
(1) your consent to the Terms of Service http://wordpress.com/tos/ and all policies made under it found in the support docs like this one http://en.support.wordpress.com/deleting-accounts/,
and
(2) an email address.Any personal information you posted anywhere was posted voluntarily. Both the email address and personal information can be removed or replaced at any time.
Here’s how to deactivate your account:
Although username accounts are not deleted, so you cannot be impersonated and have your reputation affected by anyone registering the same username in the future, there are steps you can take that amount to removing all personal information and result in leaving only a throwaway email address behind. http://en.support.wordpress.com/deleting-accounts/1. You can go to My Account->Edit Profile and remove all data except the account name and an email address. Create a throwaway email address and change the account email to that throwaway address. This only leaves the username behind.
2. To unsubscribe from email sent to you from WordPress.com, go here and click on “Block all subscription emails from WordPress.com”:
https://wordpress.com/settings/notifications/3. To ensure the account is locked up tightly, visit this site, generate a password of 15-20 characters, and change the account password to it:
http://www.thebitmill.com/tools/password.html4. To hide your Gravatar profile, login and on the bottom right hand corner of your Gravatar profile page you will find a “hide” button visible only to you that you can click.

Thank you, timethief. You went to a lot of trouble for me, and I appreciate it. I think I asked the wrong question. What I really need to know is how to change the title of a blog that has never been published, & how to prevent my photo from being on that blog. If it is required to have a photo, I can easily use an avatar. I have 3 blogs on WP – 2 are published. It is the 3rd one that I am concerned about.
Actually, my username is not my real name. It is a pseudonym that I had planned to use for a blog with an unrelated title. I have never made any posts to that blog, and would like to change the title of the blog. If you know how to do this, I would appreciate your input. If you don’t have time, I certainly understand. Thanks, again.

Howdy @leslielogan,
Based on what you’ve described so far, we have the following scenario:
– You have 2 public blogs at WordPress.com. On these sites, you have no problem with your image being associated.
– You have 1 unpublished site at WordPress.com that you would like to author from an anonymous user account.
Is that correct? If so, I would recommend we do the following:
1. Create a new username under a different email address. That way, this new user account is completely separate from leslielogan. You would have two user logins, but you would be able to keep your image on leslielogan while setting up an empty/default image on the new user account.
2. Transfer the unpublished blog to the new/anonymous user account. That way, all posts to the new site come from the anonymous user, not your leslielogan account.
How does that sound? After we transfer the site, I can help you to change the title of the site.

Hi, Jeremy. Sounds good on the surface. Unfortunately, “leslielogan” is the pseudonym I want to use for the anonymous blog. It is already tied to an unpublished blog titled “Southern Gardening”. I simply want to change the name from Southern Gardening to something else that will reflect the content — it won’t be gardening. It will be about the devastating effects an alcoholic, drug-addicted family member has on the entire family. I have a master’s degree in public health, and an undergrad degree in psychology/family dynamics. I simply want to tell my story, in hopes of helping others. I also I want to protect my family members from any publicity. If my real name & photo are published, some folks will know the family members. Logan is my maiden name. Leslie is what my mom wanted to name me (after her dad), but my dad insisted it was a boy’s name. I prefer Leslie to my real name, and would like to use it as a pseudonym. So — can I simply change the blog name from “Southern Gardening” to something else?
So sorry for being so much trouble. I would have given it a different name to begin with, but did not when I saw that my photo was there. Thanks for any help you can give me.

Yep! You can change the title of the site following the steps here:
https://en.support.wordpress.com/settings/general-settings/#changing-your-site-title-and-tagline
The site will still be paired with your leslielogan account meaning your Gravatar (profile image) will appear on comments/other areas around the site. Is that alright? If not, we can create a new account for you and transfer the other blogs to that account (leaving the unpublished blog under leslielogan). This would essentially be the reverse of the scenario I originally mentioned.

That move would be wonderful, but I have been on this computer almost all day, and am bleary-eyed, and getting a headache. Will it be OK if I contact you in a day or two to do this?
Thank you so much for your help.
-
Of course! Just let me know when you want to make the move.
Here are the steps that we’ll need to complete to make this happen:
1. Log out of your account leslielogan
2. Use the link here to create a new username. This will not create another blog.
3. Once you have the new account created, reply back here from your leslielogan account asking for the two blogs you wish to transfer to be moved to the new account and specify the account username.
-
-
No problem! Did you create the new account by chance? If so, can you specify the username? Then, I’ll transfer those sites over!
-
I haven’t done it yet. Been covered up lately. I still don’t have a good title for the new blog that will stay with leslielogan. Will that be a problem?
