  I’m sorry but I posted these in the wrong order and cannot edit to change that.

  First you need to export your old posts from LJ as an .XML file from http://www.livejournal.com/export.bml

  Then, when you’ve set up your WP blog, you use the instructions at the link in the first post I made above.
