May I Link From wp.COM to wp.ORG?
-
Hi guys:
I currently operate a wordpress.org website.
I’d like to use the custom menus to link from a wordpress.COM blog to my wordpress.ORG site.
Although I’m aware that I’m not supposed to link to affiliate sites. However, in this case, the “affiliate” is ME.
The reason I’m even considering this is because I am trying to rank for very competitive keywords and I believe that if I did the blogging from wordpress.COM, I might do better because of the “domain authority” of wordpress.com.
I hope this wouldn’t be a violation of the terms of service. That’s why I’m asking here.
Also, if anyone has any insights as to whether my “strategy” is misguided, I’d sure appreciate any input.

There is no reason that you cannot link to your wp.ORG site from your wp.COM site.
unless:

I am assuming that your wp.com blog is to be a real blog which will be a companion to your self-hosted site, and articles you post there will be associated with the content of the wp.org site, adding insights to the information or updated/changing news or information to it. Not that you are linking only to make money from the link.
