Hi there!
I purchased the McKinley template and I don’t have the “type” menu under gallery settings….it’s missing
When you mention “type,” are you referring to your fonts? If so, to change those, click Appearance → Customize in your site’s Dashboard. Then, in the right-hand menu, click Fonts. You can make your adjustments to your fonts in that section. Save your changes.
If you meant something other than fonts, let me know and I can assist.
Oh, also — just so you’re aware, McKinley is a free theme. What you purchased was the Premium upgrade which allows you access to many other features on your site as seen here:
http://store.wordpress.com/plans/premium/is this template compatible with stand alone word press? do I need certain plugins?
You can use the McKinley theme on a self-hosted WordPress.org site. It is downloadable here: http://wordpress.org/themes/mckinley
Plugins are features and functions you add to your site as needed. You aren’t required to have any…but can install as many as you want on WordPress.org sites.
If you’re not sure about the difference between hosting here at WordPress.com, and self-hosting, please take a look at the following:

the “type” I’m referring to has nothing to do with fonts. It’s about image galleries and the fact that what I downloaded from wordpress.com and then my hosting company has uploaded to my live site isn’t what I previewed and played with on the wordpress.com site.
any ideas what could be causing that? -
If you’re referring to a self-hosted site, I’m afraid I cannot be of much assistance. You’ve reached support for the WordPress.com-hosted sites. I don’t have any access to your server or your files. If you’ve downloaded the McKinley theme from WordPress.org, and you’re struggling with the setup, here is the .ORG forum that specializes in Theme-related issues:
http://wordpress.org/support/forum/themes-and-templatesIf you were having trouble with your theme here at WordPress.com, I could help, but on a self-hosted site, the WordPress.org community will be your best bet.
I wish I could help further. If you have questions at all about your WordPress.com sites, please be in touch. Thanks and best of luck.

I downloaded the template from wordpress.com….what I can’t seem to do is the image gallery on the McKinley theme demo page of the large photos with the four dots at the bottom that rotate thru the four images. Can you guide me on what/how to do that?
Thanks, -

Thanks for your URL. This is a self-hosted site. It’s not hosted here. Like I said, I’m sorry, but I have no access to your Dashboard as it’s housed elsewhere.
This link is specifically for McKinley support for self-hosted sites:
http://wordpress.org/support/theme/mckinleyYou can leave your question there. The theme developer, themetrust.com, or another volunteer can help.

I understand that…like I said, I was wanting some light shed on how the
image gallery on the McKinley theme demo page works regarding the large photos with the four dots at the bottom that rotate thru the four images….Thank you for the link for support.
