Meaning of ‘Default Home Page’

The wordpress documentation says ‘When you choose a page as your site’s default posts page, WordPress automatically retrieves and displays all your posts on your chosen page’. What does ‘autmatically retrieves’ mean?

‘HOW’ does it automatically retrieve? If the ‘page’ is not my home page, surely I must reference the posts page in the url? How is the ‘default posts page’ any different from any other page in my site? What special handling does the ‘default home page’ get in WordPress?

If I create a page ‘MyPosts’ and make it the ‘default posts page’ (and not the home page), surely a visitor must enter ‘mysite.com/MyPosts’ to see the posts page?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Thanks. I have replied to that topic since it has more context. Also note, the topic title here should have been ‘Meaning of Default Posts Page’. My bad. I fully understand the meaning and use of ‘default home page’ but what I’m struggling with is the meaning and use of ‘default posts page’ … explained in the other post.
