Please HELP. Thanks.
1. I ‘added’ a new image in the ‘Media Library’ using the ‘add new’ button on my website https://vb1a.wordpress.com/
2. I also saved the image URL https://vb1a.files.wordpress.com/2023/04/img_1007.jpg?w=361 on a word document page
3. Then I realised it was the wrong image and used the ‘Delete permanently’ button to deleted it in the media library.
4. I did the search on three different browsers of the deleted image https://vb1a.files.wordpress.com/2023/04/img_1007.jpg?w=361 and it still appears when doing a search on three different web browsers.
5. I have already deleted all browsing history and also deleted the cache as well and the image still comes up every time after doing all the above.
6. You will notice my “condolence letter image” message https://vb1a.files.wordpress.com/2023/04/img_1007.jpg?w=361 is still appearing on a page entitled “my favourite jokes”. I am devasted with my inadvertent blunder.
7. Please confirm once done your side to permanently remove, delete and obliterate this URL https://vb1a.files.wordpress.com/2023/04/img_1007.jpg?w=361 so that it no longer shows on any web searchBest regards

https://vb1a.files.wordpress.com/2023/04/img_1007.jpg certainly gives me a 404 – Not Found so that image has been deleted.

Dear staartmees,
Thank you for your prompt response.
Unfortunately, I have just checked again on my 3 browsers it’s still comes up with the image.
Difficult for me to prove it to you unless we team view for a few minutes.
Let me know.
Best regards
Matteo

Hello Matteo,
I too cannot see the image and it shows as a 404.
It sounds like your device/browsers may be caching the existence of the image for you. Could I ask you to try clearing the cache of one of your browsers to start with, and check in that browser if the image still appears afterwards?
If you need, we have guides for various browsers, for how to clear the browser cache:

Dear staff-95percentghost,
Thanks for your email.
I did exactly as per instructions of your email, but unfortunately the image reappears. It appears to me that perhaps it’s a WordPress issue that needs to be sorted out from your side.
I even checked on my friend’s Laptop and his iPhone with the same problem. Please look into again, there might be a way to remove it from your side.
By the way, it’s the first time it’s ever happened to me over the last 10 years that I have been using wordpress.com!
I look forward to your early response to resolve my issue. Many thanks and best regards Matteo

Hi there,
On our end I have checked on our global server network to ensure that there are no copies, and I did not see any. As others have mentioned here, I do not see images at any of the URLs that you shared. It is always possible that a copy of the image may be cached locally by your computer or browser, but there are no online copies of this on our servers, and it has well and truly been deleted.
Sadly locally cached images are not under our control, so you can try to clear them from your browser by following the steps we’ve shared above, but if that does not work we do not have an alternate method to suggest. Most caches are temporary so it should be purged at some point and then you will no longer see it on your end.
Let us know if you need further assistance or if you have any questions.

Hello
ok, i have now done a hard clear and cache clear etc. the image shows a 404, as you appropriately state.
this relates to https://vb1a.files.wordpress.com/2023/04/img_1007.jpg
HOWEVER, this still appears after the above reset – https://vb1a.files.wordpress.com/2023/04/img_1007.jpg?w=361
However, on my site, it is gone and permanently deleted. Have shared the link with someone completely independent, and the link also brings up the image. Again, however, it does not exist on my admin accessed website.
Please advise

I ran a script on our servers to remove any instances of that image and can confirm it has been removed from our system. The only copies that would exist at this point are in cache, and we are not able to clear that from our end. You should not see that anymore but if you do I would recommend clearing your cache again.
Also worth noting that the cached image would be only for people that have visited the image in the past. Anyone trying to visit for the first time will see a 404 since there is no server-side image.
Hope that helps. Please let us know if you have any more questions.
