Media Downloads Failing
-
Hi!
I’m trying to download the media library from my site, and no matter what I do, the download always fails partway through and I’m forced to restart. I’ve tried multiple times with different internet connections and never had a successful download. The file isn’t that large, only around 600 mb – what am I doing wrong? Any help would be appreciated. Thank you! -
Hello there,

Hi there,
Media downloads can sometimes time out, and there isn’t always a specific cause.
If the download fails, click the downloads icon in your browser – there might be an option there to resume the download.
Failing that, you’ll need to use a download manager program/browser add-on to help with downloading the media library.

@therefoiam,
The OP is speaking about https://wordpress.com/support/export/#exporting-the-media-library.
This is a WordPress.com feature that does not exist in the open source WordPress software.

Thank you both for your help. I will try a third party download manager, though I haven’t had any luck resuming the downloads in Chrome.

Okay, I tried third party download software, and the same thing happens. It fails halfway through and hitting ‘resume’ just restarts from zero.

Hi there,
What download manager did you use? Previously I had good results with both DownThemAll and Free Download Manager.
-
I was using a browser extension, but I wound up finding a workaround by exporting media another way. Thanks for the help!
