    Hi,

I’m trying to export 11.37GB media library. Network fails each time at around 25%. Please could you provide split links for this?

    Many thanks

Edit – I’ve tried with DownThemAll download manager, but still the same issue.

    Thanks

  • Hello there,

    Many thanks for reaching out.

I’ve just initiated an media export for your site, as it’s quite large file – when this is complete, it should arrive via email.

I’ve also initiated a batched export, with files containing media from between:

    – June 2012: June 2017
    – June 2017: February 2021

which should arrive in two separate emails.

The batched export files should be smaller in size.

    I hope this helps.

    Hi,

Nothing has come through yet, should it have?

    Thanks

  • Not yet, this may take up to 24 hours.

    Hi,

Still nothing I’m afraid. Would you mind checking and resending?

    Thanks

Thanks for your patience. This has been quite tricky!

I just initiated a media export of January-February 2021 only. You should get an email when that’s ready to download.

If that works, you will need to download your media in smaller batches since the large ones are timing out for you.

    1. Go to this URL: https://johntomsett.wordpress.com/wp-admin/export.php
    2. Choose “Media”
    3. Select a “Start Date” and “End Date”
    4. Click the “Download Export File” button.

The next screen will prompt you that an email will be sent to your account email address when the file is ready to download.

You’ll also need to refresh the above URL to reset the export options. I’d recommend experimenting with batches of 2-6 month periods to avoid the network failures you had been experiencing.

I hope that helps! Let us know if you’re still having trouble.

I also forgot to mention that the exports may take up to 24 hours to process, so you may not be notified right away.

Let us know if you still need our help!

Thanks. I’ll let you know if that has worked.

Hi. This is getting really urgent now. I’m still waiting for a full media export of the site due to downloads timing out when downloading the data. I’ve tried download managers etc.

When I follow your tutorial the files produced are around 100Kb. If this is an XML or similar that will transfer them from to the new site, this won’t work as web host limitations.

Please could you provide either a direct link to the file that works, or FTP access or similar, so that I can download the data on my site. Alternatively, if you could temporarily enable plugins, I could use a plugin to move my data (maybe). But this would need to be for free, as I would only be using it for this purpose.

    Many thanks

  • 100kb definitely sounds like just the content XML file.

Did you definitely choose “Media” at https://johntomsett.wordpress.com/wp-admin/export.php ?

    Hi,

Yes, definitely chose media and still no email export.

    Please can you advise?

    Thanks

  • Hello,

I’ve managed to export the media to XML file and run a test import.

I’ll be reaching out via email to further assist with this.

Please be sure to check your spam inbox or any promotional tabs that may be in place.

    Many thanks.
