Media file or attachment page?

  • Unknown's avatar

I am still figuring out things for our blog and I can’t find an answer for the following so I am hoping someone can help please. There are a few different authors on the blog. When we add an image to a post we have a choice of adding it linked to to a “media file” or “attachment page”. We have no idea which one is correct. We have been adding the images as “media file” but is this right or should we be using “attachment page”? What is the difference between them, and what actually is the attachment page, is it the page the image is on?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • Hi there,

When we add an image to a post we have a choice of adding it linked to to a “media file” or “attachment page”. We have no idea which one is correct.

Neither is right or wrong, it depends on your preference. Choosing the attachment page opens the image up to a separate page whenever the image is clicked.

Alternatively, media file opens up just the image and nothing else.

For a further explanation of the differences, please check out our support page here:

    Hope this helps!
