Hi,
At the moment, new free sites have a limit of 500 MB storage, while the Pro plan offers 50 GB.
You could consider upgrading to the WordPress.com Pro plan. You can take a look at the pricing here: https://wordpress.com/pricing/On a side note, moving forward you might also want to consider optimizing your images for the web before uploading them to the media library.
Image optimization can drastically reduce the size of your images. We have more details on how to do this here: -
@pearlsapphire2 If you’ve filled up your existing 3GB Media Library, the only option at the moment is to upgrade to the new Starter or Pro plan, which will give you more storage space.

https://wordpress.com/pricing/It’s been mentioned that WordPress.com is working on adding a la carte upgrades, but we don’t know when and what that will include.
If by chance you have one of the earlier upgrade plans (now Legacy) prior to the change at the end of March 2022, you can upgrade to a higher Legacy plan in your site’s dashboard. https://wordpress.com/plans/anniestorey.wordpress.com
Hope that helps, but let us know if you have other questions or need further assistance.
@chummypixels WordPress.com new free sites have 1GB of storage. They increased that from the initially announced 500MB following user reaction to the changes. You can read about that here. https://wordpress.com/blog/2022/04/05/introducing-wordpress-pro-one-plan-infinite-possibilities/ -
