media library

  i have a lot of attached photos the same in the library , if i delete some and leave 1 will that leave things as they are now

  unattached photos , can i delete them all if i do not want them

  The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  Unattached means you originally uploaded them via Media > Add New. Attached means you uploaded them via the Add an Image button of the post or page editor (or assigned them to a post after uploading them via Media > Add New).

  Re Q1: If you delete “some” at random, then those some might include the one actually inserted in a post or a page, and then you’ll get a question-mark (or the like, depending on the browser) instead of the image. You need to check your posts/pages (switching the editor to html), note the exact URLs of the inserted images, and make sure you don’t delete those.

  Re Q2: Yes, if you haven’t used them in any post/page.

  In all, it may not be worth the trouble: your 3GB of free space is enough for thousands of images.

  Never delete any picture if you still want it visible on your blog. Many people delete them from the media library still thinking they’ll be around when it won’t.
