Media Library

I’ve downloaded a Word.doc file into my media library and tried to link the URL to a blog post and it shows up as a file that requires opening rather than a new window. What am I doing wrong. Thanks!
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Word documents are accepted file types. If the file is already in your Media Library then you need to upload it from there into a post or a page.
Go to Posts -> Add New or Pages -> Add New.
Click on the Add Media icon found in the Upload/Insert icon group directly above your editor. http://en.support.wordpress.com/uploading-documents/#from-media-library -
Hi and thanks, however that is what I’ve been doing and it shows up as the web address. What I’m trying to do is link the web address from the media library to a word in my post so when a reader clicks on the linked word the file in the media library opens. Is that possible, and if so, how? Thanks again.

I think what you are asking depends on your visitor’s browser…
If you want your visitors to stay on your blog while viewing the Word document, you could embed it with Scribd:
