Media Library Images Disappeared

  All of a sudden images in my media library have turned blank and are missing. Sometimes show a little question mark where the image should be. They are not int he posts either. About half my images seem to be affected and this came out of nowhere.

  Can you please help me get things back to how they were?

  It sounds like a connectivity issue and I do see a few other forum threads concerning ISP Movistar in Spain. Are you connecting from there? If so, the main thread is here: https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/wordpress-not-loading-properly-with-my-internet-provider?replies=13

  If not, can you point to a post on your site where you see missing images?

  Thanks for responding. I am connecting from Canada and don’t have any ISP issues that I am aware of. The challenge is that in the posts it’s not even showing a square anymore where the pictures were; it just is empty.

  However, when I am in my Media Library there are white squares all over the place where there were pictures. I would say about half have turned into this white square. When I click on it and it opens the “Attachment Details” screen then it will sometimes show the picture or sometimes not. If it does not and I click “Edit” then it will show the picture. So the picture is there somewhere. But nay that have turned white have completely disappeared from my posts.

  Any ideas would be hugely appreciated as I can’t imagine trying to go back through these all to identify what is missing and to reload. Does WP have any sort of backup built in?

  I should also add that it no longer is letting me upload new images. So when I try to upload a new image it shows the status bar uploading the image and then the image is there as a white box. Again I can then click on it and if I click Edit I can see the pic but I can’t insert it into a post or use it at all.

  Update:

  I have found that at least for me this was a browser issue. Once I tested on Chrome everything has been working fine. However, Safari is still not working.

  So there may be an issue with Safari or with WP with Safari but I will be using Chrome from now on.
