Media Library not displaying (on local computer)

    Hi, my name’s Colin and here’s my issue!

    Recently I cannot view my Media Library. When I’m in the Media Library or wp-admin/media.php, I simply get a gray wheel with a spinning white dot on the top bar, there is no other error or interface info to speak of. I’ve seen other people with a similar issue describe ‘boxes in the media library that appear blank’ but I do not see this. It’s as if my folder is completely clear of inventory.

    When I upload files I get the error ‘An error occurred in the upload. Please try again later.’ but I’m checking my folders and the files ARE actually being uploaded despite the error and lack of display. Reverting from my custom theme to twentyfifteen or any other theme displays this and the images work fine. So I know my custom theme is the problem and I’d like help troubleshooting what the cause could be.

    My browser is Chrome 43 (latest), I am running my website as of now on a WAMP local server so folder permissions are not an issue.

    I’ve tried several solutions from other forum posts like
    – clearing cache/history/etc
    – enabling cookies
    – disabling all google chrome related plugins
    – disabling all WordPress related plugins

    Most of the other solutions I’ve read involve changing or looking at the htaccess but again, my environment is local so I really don’t want to change things in there unless you recommend it.

    Hi – sorry quick edit. WP auto added an older blog at the bottom of my post. This is NOT the site I’m using and I’m working locally. I wanted to add that in case there was confusion

    I fixed the problem – Apparently functions.php really didn’t like that I tried to use <!– –> to comment, html style. As soon as I switched to /* */ the issue resolved

    Since you are working locally – you are using the WordPress.ORG software installed on your computer so you should ask fr help at WordPress.ORG as they are the keepers of the software you are using
