Media Library – pdf
-
I downed loaded two pictures and on PDF file to my media library. In the media library, the picture icons show up as pictures, but the pdf is just a generalized representation of a pdf. When I insert the pictures on a page or post, they show up as pictures, but on the page or post, I have to “click” to get the pdf to show up. What am I doing wrong?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there,
See:
Accepted file types here http://en.support.wordpress.com/accepted-filetypes/Uploading documents
See here for accepted file types http://en.support.wordpress.com/accepted-filetypes/ The following processes are outlined particularly for users who wish to upload a document and add its download link to a blog post or page. http://en.support.wordpress.com/uploading-documents/Embedding documents
If you want to embed the document itself into a post, then you will have to use a third party application like Scribd or Google Docs.

I’m not explaining myself properly
What I mean is that I have a page on which I’ve inserted a pdf file. In order to see the pdf file, the viewer must right-click on it to open it in a new window, or (s)he can click on it, and the browser leaves the page, and opens the pdf
I have another page where I’ve inserted two jpg pictures, and the pictures are immediately visible when the viewer enters the page.
Is there any way that I can have the PDF’s be immediately visible on entering a page without the necessity of clicking, just as with the JPG’s?

Basically you’re doing nothing wrong. PDFs are not images. The only way to get a PDF to show up as if it were an image is to use the Scribd or GDoc workarounds TT posted above.
