media library question
-
Hi, what is the difference between the caption and the discription of a file?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)
-
The caption, if you use it will show up underneath the image when you insert it. As far as I can tell, the “description” is just for the blog owner and does not show up anywhere public.
-
The Description is the part of the post Facebook gloms on to first. If you post a post to FB, nine times out of ten what shows up is the image description.
-

You can even add links to pages or posts (or I guess other sites online) in the description, which will then work from attachment pages.
-
-
On attachment pages. An attachment page is the dedicated page that shows up when you click on a regular image or a gallery image if you have selected the relevant option. Examples here:

I will be mainly working with word documents and mp3 files here, not immages. Does it work for these as well?
-
The caption fields and description fields apply to images.
For Uploading Documents see the illustrated entry here > http://en.support.wordpress.com/uploading-documents/
If you wish to upload audio files from your own computer, you will need to purchase the Space Upgrade. http://en.support.wordpress.com/audio/
I do not want users to be able to download but only listen on site your best bet is probably to use a Flash player and the figya Shortcode http://wpbtips.wordpress.com/category/gigya/
