Media Library Search Not Working

  • Unknown's avatar

When I go to my media library and type a keyword in the search bar, the screen blinks as if it’s going to show me the results, but then it just shows all of my media library as if I didn’t search at all. It’s still in chronological order by upload date.

I search words I know are in file names. I’ll search words that are common, such as “icon” and it still shows all of my media. I’ll search words I know without a doubt are not in any media files, such as “toilet,” and still, it shows all of my media library.

This has been happening for probably the better part of a year or two. To find certain files, I have to remember when they were uploaded and use the date dropdown to find all files uploaded within that month.

I’m just wondering if there is a way to fix this? In the past 2 years, my website has changed themes, but within both themes, all plugins have been disabled, I tried the default theme. Still no fix. Everything is up to date (wordpress, theme and plugins). This is just a frustrating issue.
