Media Not Appearing

My Media isn’t appearing as a thumbnail on my blog. I have added it both in code and through the ‘Add Media’ option when posting a post. Here are some images of what I mean, since I’m not sure if what I’m saying is making sense:
This is looking at the post on the website. It has the image added, but when you go to the home page:
I am currently using the Oxygen Theme by AlienWP
Can anyone help? It’s only sometimes working for me and my site would look so much better if the images actually appeared.
Let me know if there is anything I can add as far as coding or images go

You are using literally the most complicated theme we have here. One of its peculiarities is that it demands the use of Featured Images in order to have the images show up on the main page. Featured Images have to be uploaded to WordPress.com, they cannot be hosted at Photobucket instead.
If you read up on some threads about Oxygen in the Themes forum and start uploading your images here, you should be able to get it working the way you want, but if you’re a beginner my advice is frankly to switch themes. I’ve been here seven years and I wouldn’t bother with that theme. It’s too fiddly.

Oh all right. Drat. I love the way it looks. But I suppose if it’s really that fiddly, I’ll find another one.

No worries. Why not register a private blog to fiddle with Oxygen until it is working the way you want? Then once you know exactly the settings you can switch your real blog over to Oxygen.

That’s true.
I spent most of today fiddling with the site and even though i’ve changed the theme several times over, images, ‘add media’, and even featured images are still not appearing.
what am I doing wrong?
