media not linking to a transferred blog

  media not linking – Today I moved my old blog content (using the WP Tool) to my new blog. It looks great and I couldn’t be more pleased except for two of the menu items, (Author’s Ramblings and Memories – Our Years in Review) did not get the pictures attached. The pictures are in my media file, but unlike the blog entries, only little blue squares with question marks show up. Can this be fixed programmatically?

  Hi there,

  Can you confirm the order in which you exported the content, deleted the old blog, and imported the content into WordPress.com? It looks like the old site may have been deleted before the new site was setup. It appears as though the order went like this:

  1. Export old blog
  2. Delete old blog
  3. Import old blog export into new blog

  Is that correct?

  Actually, no – I exported my old blog info to my desktop using the WP tool, imported the data into the new blog and made sure things looked right on the blog entries (but forgot to check the other menu items) before I deleted the old blog.

  Hi there,

  It looks like the media file URLs are still pointed to the old, now-deleted blog. We’re in the process of fixing this. I’ll let you know as soon as this is resolved!

  Thank you, Jeremey. The images are great for the ‘Memories’ menu item, but for the Author’s Ramblings, only one picture appears.

  Hi!

  I apologize, but it looks like you may need to recreate the gallery on that page. There was a snafu with the URLs of the images within the gallery when you made the import. Unfortunately, it resulted in the images being removed from the gallery. Can you follow the instructions here to re-add the images?
