Media not loading correctly on blog
http://parisapril2014.wordpress.com/?p=1008&shareadraft=5386061b8cf9e
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

It is not loading correctly on our site, either, TVRuckus.com. When I try to load a photo, it just shows a link. And when I try to delete the link, I get all of these extra spaces.
The “featured” photo, which is supposed to show on the main page, SHOWS that it is loading in the publishing tool, but when the article is published, it does not.
Is this the problem you’re having, too?

Our media storage limit is fine (71%); I am using Chrome, as I always do; no error message, in the blog when trying to add a photo, it just shows as a link instead of showing a photo where it should be (and when I try to remove the link, it leaves spaces in the blog); when uploading a featured photo, it shows as having uploaded as normal, but then it does not show on the page; yes, we are using jpegs; we have been uploading photos for a year, so we know how to do it.
Thanks for tagging for Staff follow-up, timethief; appreciate it. :)

Our blog is having the same issue: meerkattravelgang.wordpress.com
We have plenty of space, and tried loading images from different devices and internet browsers, but the problem persists.Timethief, thanks for pointing me to this topic :)

Hey everyone!
I’ve checked out your blog posts and found that the images were not properly linked in the markup. You can easily fix this by following these steps:
- Edit the post in Visual Editor mode
- Click on the empty image
- Click on the Pencil/Configure icon
- On the popup screen, wait for the image to load and click the blue “Update” button
I’m editing your post here and I can see that the image tags don’t have the src property in them:
<a href="http://meerkattravelgang.files.wordpress.com/2014/05/image208.jpg"><img class="alignnone wp-image-871 size-medium" alt="Pristine, clear water" width="128" height="22" /></a>The correct form would be:
<a href="http://meerkattravelgang.files.wordpress.com/2014/05/image208.jpg"><img class="alignnone wp-image-871 size-medium" src="http://meerkattravelgang.files.wordpress.com/2014/05/image208.jpg" alt="Pristine, clear water" width="128" height="22" /></a>For a quick refresher on the img tag, please see this page:
http://www.w3schools.com/tags/tag_img.asp
Can you tell me which blog post you’re having problems with?
Thanks!
-
Thanks! The image basically suffers from the same problem as meerkattravelgang’s wherein the src property is missing.
<a href="http://tvruckus.files.wordpress.com/2014/05/10153722_237718669757130_8553122930567984850_n1.jpg"><img class="alignnone size-medium wp-image-11779" alt="Matt & Joe, Dual Survival" /></a>I’ve gone ahead and inserted the property for you so it looks like this:
<a href="http://tvruckus.files.wordpress.com/2014/05/10153722_237718669757130_8553122930567984850_n1.jpg"><img class="alignnone size-medium wp-image-11779" src="http://tvruckus.files.wordpress.com/2014/05/10153722_237718669757130_8553122930567984850_n1.jpg" alt="Matt & Joe, Dual Survival" /></a>In the future, if an image goes blank, it would help to view your posts in Text Editor mode and check for any problems within the markup.
Let me know if there’s anything else you may need help on. Cheers!

Thank you, druesome, but I don’t understand: The photo that I want in the featured image is still not showing (if you will click on “featured image” you’ll see that it is showing there) and it is an image I’ve used multiple times in the past; why would it suddenly not be working?
-
-
Well, sure; it’s the photo Matt Graham with the spear. But, it’s fine, the way it is right now; I like it. You can just leave it; don’t bother with changing. What I am not understanding is why MY view of the page in editing right now is apparently different than what you are seeing.
When I go editing and scroll down to “featured image,” I see nothing, as if there has not been a photo loaded. Then, when I click on it, I see the photo of Matt Graham with a spear. This is an image I have used in the past on other articles w/ no problem. But, apparently it is no longer working. Is there a reason it would suddenly not be working?
The image you fixed, it was the first time I had tried to use it, so I understand that perhaps the code is wrong or something and there was just a problem w/ that photo. But, apparently the photo of Matt Graham is no longer working when it has in the past. Is there a reason for this? We’ve never had any photo problems in the past, and it just seems odd that this would happen at the same time others are having such problems.
-
Oh, and, druesome, I just noticed: I thought the featured image was showing on the front of the page, as well, as it is within the article, but it is not. So, if you could fix, I would appreciate it. I have it in there, just as I described above, it just is not showing. There must be some reason that a photo I have used with no problem in the past is suddenly not working?
-
Thanks :) I’ve managed to fix the images. I don’t know how to do the coding myself though, so if the Add Media tool leaves something out I’m lost. Is there something wrong with that button?
I’m having the same problem with the featured image, though. It’s still not loading.
-
Hey @mrdcleveland:
I do see the problem there. Rest assured that I have asked our developers to investigate. Let me get back to you when I receive updates. Sorry about this!
-
I was able to replicate the empty images problem and I’ve filed a report on it as well. Are you still having trouble setting the featured image? I can see it properly set up in this post:
Let me know if you need further help. Thanks!

I’ve seen some scattered user reports that FF is classifying some of their images as malware.

Agh, I am having the same problems with an image not showing in the featured section. I have plenty of space in my media library and I am running an up-to-date version of chrome. I am trying to get 4seasons.jpg to show up… but it only shows up in the dashboard screen, not on the actual blog
http://ecer2014dinner.wordpress.com/building-of-the-4-seasons-2/
thanks for your help
