Media (pics) size is displayed differently across my pages

  • Unknown's avatar

    Hi,
I have hundreds of images on my blog.
I always use the same method to add pics in my pages: insert media, then adjusting their size to 300 pixels high. Never had any issue.
But since July, whenever I add a new pic in any page (still following the same method), the image is now displayed in a ‘giant ratio’ in the actual published page – even though all the pics look perfectly similar to each other when I edit my page using the editor.
Anybody knows how to fix this?
Thank you in advance for any advice :)

    Hello!

I have studies your query and according to that you can find the solution of your query here: https://wordpress.com/support/media-settings/

Let me know if you have any further questions!

  • Hi there,

Thank you for reaching out! I understand that you’re experiencing an issue with images displaying in a larger size than expected on your published pages, even though they appear correctly in the editor. Let’s work on resolving this together.

Here are a few things you can try to fix the issue:

    1. Clear your browser cache: Sometimes, a cached version of the page might be causing display issues. Clearing the cache and reloading the page may help.
    2. Check your theme settings: Some themes may override the manual image sizing adjustments. You can try switching to a different image size option in the image block settings (such as Medium or Large) and see if the images render correctly on the live page.
    3. Try re-inserting the image: Remove the problematic image, re-add it to the page, and adjust its size again to 300 pixels high. Then, update the page to see if the issue persists.

If the issue started in July, it could be related to a theme or editor update. Let me know if none of these steps resolve the issue, and we can explore further options to ensure your images display as expected.

    Looking forward to your reply!

    Thanks everyone for your answers!

I had to get into the code to fix this:

For whatever reason, since last July (approximately), whenever I insert a media on my page, the code toward the picture starts like this:

    https://thegarfieldcube.wordpress.com/wp-content/uploads/

and then the image is now displayed in a ‘giant ratio’ in the actual published page.

    However.

If I edit the page code in the page editor, and adjust the link toward the image in the code (to what it used to be, as seeen on any other of the 1,000 pages on my blog), the issue disappears:

    https://thegarfieldcube.files.wordpress.com/

I guess that now, going forward I have to adjust the link everysingle time I add a new image in my blog pages…

… Unless someone knows a better solution?

    Thank you,

    Ben

  • Hi Ben!

I checked your website and found that the earlier links which were using the .files.wordpress.com structure generally came from “Classic” editor.

These newer links that use the /wp-content/uploads usually come from the “Block” editor.

You can read more about the different editors here-
    https://wordpress.com/support/editors/classic-editor-guide/
    https://wordpress.com/support/wordpress-editor/

A workaround to using the .files.wordpress.com image links would be to use the “Classic” block for your posts
    https://wordpress.com/support/wordpress-editor/blocks/classic-block/

However, images coming from different links should not cause size issues. You can control the size of the images on the block editor as well-
