Media space & past blog posts
-
I am running out of space for media. I do not want to upgrade, nor do I want to use a 2nd party to host my media. So the only other option aside from letting the allotted space go to zero and end my blog is to delete past media.
So the question is, if I delete my media files, how will that affect my past blog posts? Will these have just text and a missing image?
Thanks very much!

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

The image will go away in the Post if you delete the image from the media library – the text will remain
one workaround is the register a new blog (use a variation on your current site to keep from burning a good URL) – then hotlink the images from the second blog into the first blog –
are you optimizing the images for the web? your site seems to be slow loading with lots of bandwidth being used

Thanks for your speedy reply.
Since I would really hate to have my images from past blog posts disappear, deleting them is now not an option.
I’m not interesting hotlinking, so it looks like the best way to go is to start creating a second blog site under my account. I see that WP gives me that option.
As far as my site being slow to load, I though it loaded pretty quickly – I go to my page & “BAM!” it’s there. I believe my images to be optimized for the web.
Thanks again!

However many browsers cache the images on your disk and that will make the site load quickly for you but not for first time visitors
you can hotlink from your own second site here to your first site

Yes, I know that. My browser doesn’t cache web sites and my page loads as fast as your does.
Regardless, this issue has now been resolved.
Thanks for your input.
