Media Storage

    Hi everyone!

I recently bumped my wwebb.co site up on the Business plan. I am seeing in my Media that I have 53GB storage available. This is not a complaint, but the Pricing page shows that we get a base 50GB starting out.

I have been on the Business plan before with another site, and remember only having 50GB storage then. Did I get a bonus of some sort for the storage, or is this a glitch in the system? I only ask because I don’t want to run into issues later on down the line… not that I can see myself using that much storage space… even if I start building photo galleries. Nice to have a large amount though.

Also I noted the price has been lowered on the Business plan. THANK YOU WORDPRESS.COM!! Not sure if that was a sale, or the new ongoing price. That $60 savings really made a difference in my decision to upgrade.

Also is there a plugin that can put the Action Bar back that was lost after the upgrade to Business plan? I don’t think there is, but thought I would ask. I miss it, and have been lost… but I started saving my dashboard pages in my bookmarks, so I’m getting along ok without it. It was just convenient.

    Thanks!

  • Hi there,

Great question! We’re fans of under promise and over deliver, so when you upgrade and get 50GB of storage on the Business plan, we actually add 50GB to the base amount of storage on your site. That’s why it comes out as 53GB. All is well here!

Also is there a plugin that can put the Action Bar back that was lost after the upgrade to Business plan? I don’t think there is, but thought I would ask. We don’t offer the Action Bar on the plugin enabled sites, but we have begun and continue work to make the Admin Bar more helpful. There are links to various useful areas of the site available there: https://share.cleanshot.com/3khQ3xFN.

Do let us know if there are specific options you used frequently from the Action Bar. We’d love to know what was most useful there.

    Thanks!

Hi Michael. Thanks for the update and info.

The primary features I used in the Acti9n Bar, and the little menu in the lower right corner of the screen, were the basic ones, Add new page/post, access to the dashboard, access to FSE, edit page/post. I basically used all of the options that were there. It just makes navigating and editing your site so much faster and easier. As already mentioned, I have saved all of these links into a bookmarks folder in my Firefox browser with these accessible from the Bookmarks bar in the browser. Essentially I recreated the Action Bar on my own using the browsers bookmark system. So I am back to smooth sailing again that way.

A big suggestion I think would be handy in the Action Bar for others if you’re able to add it, would be a link to custom patterns. As it stands currently, you go to in as if you are going to edit a post, and then choose “Manage Patterns” (or something like that), which will take you to a list of your patterns. It looks like the posts and pages list. Having to access the Patterns that way is like “the way around” when you can access them easily if you have saved that link. I think having that link already available in the Action Bar could save someone a minute of time to access the Patterns in the current set up. This would be handy for people who have many Pattern blocks in their layout, or even have Pattern blocks as a part of their overall layout templates. I hope that made sense.

It would also be handy if that link to Patterns could be inserted into the Dashboard where we access our Pages and Posts for editing.

Thanks again for all the info, and the bonus on the extra storage space!
