Media storage limit has been reached
-
Hello everyone, after 6 years I have finally reached the end of my media storage limit. A few years ago I was advised to simply open up a second blog and use the media storage from there to continue posting on my first blog. I just want to make sure that I’m not breaking any Wordpres conduct rules by doing so.
As an example of what I mean by that, I simply uploaded an image to a second WP site (dreager2.wordpress.com) and then copied the image url that I got from there into my main DReager1.com site.
Thanks!
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi @dreager1, great question. Here’s our terms of service: http://en.wordpress.com/tos/
It mentions one shouldn’t have a site for the sole purpose of linking to another site. Have you thought about starting another blog as a whole site?
Or, since you’d be storing images on another site anyway, have you thought about using any media storage services such as flickr or cloudup ? Both can embed nicely on WordPress.com .
Of course your other option is to go ahead and upgrade to Premium. It’s $99/year and comes with other features as well.

I also own a few companies some of which I’d like to redirect to my main site being they are subsidiary url’s just for people if they miss type. Also will having sites linked boost my main on on google or other search engines?
Thanks!

@wrightmanagement5 I can’t speak for SEO, but you can use a site redirect upgrade:
https://en.support.wordpress.com/site-redirect/This is a bit different from having a site to link to other sites, since it’s basically consolidating sites.
Be sure the same content exists on the new site so people won’t just get 404 errors. That way any links to the old sites will take folks to the same information on the new site.

@supernovia Thanks for the response! Based on that, then it sounds like it’s definitely a bad idea to upload images to the other blog purely to link them. Flickr sounds perfect for grabbing the images so I greatly appreciate you bringing it up.
Thanks again!
