Media Upload Error

Whenever I try to upload a media file (images) to the library I get the well-known ‘Missing a temporary folder.’ error.

However, I tried every single method based on information available online, but sadly none of them helped or worked.

The error message reads something like this: ModSecurity: Warning. Match of “rx ^$” against “FILES_TMPNAMES:async-upload” required.

    Can this be fixed?

  • Hi,

What is the URL of the site you are trying to access? We’ll be happy to take a look and see if we can help.

The website I experienced the mentioned issue on is http://fairtransfer.co.hu/

Also, having issues with ‘Server Error 400’ whenever I attempt to update the homepage using Elementor live edit. Tried pretty much everything for that one as well.

These issues occurred right after freshly installing WordPress and setting Astra as the theme, so can’t really figure out what went wrong and where.

    Thank you in advance.

  • Got it; we should have noticed the ModSec error. This site is hosted with a different provider, and their security feature (ModSec) is blocking access to some features. They should be able to help you configure the server to support WordPress appropriately.

The Server Error 400 probably isn’t related, but I’d recommend fixing that first issue first, then if you still need help, you might reach out to Elementor support here.

Going forward, these forums are primarily for sites that use our free-tier hosting. We’re a little different from the WordPress software itself. This article explains some of the differences.

You’ll want to create an account at WordPress.org so you’ll have access to the correct community for your site. Or, you’d be welcome to host here; your plan would get direct support.

    I hope this helps!

I tried turning off ModSecurity, but the issue was still there. I contacted the service provider in the meantime, hoping for a fix from their side. Before the reinstallation the media upload features were working flawlessly, so I was worried that I messed something up in the process as I never experienced this with other sites I built using WordPress – but those were with a different service provider.

Nonetheless, many thanks for the response and super quick help – will consider switching host if I bump into more issues.
