media uploader glitch

“Help” is NO help. WP managem,ent is sidestepping the issue by offering a “BOT” for “assistance” That said, here is my problem:
I have a weird glitch – the media upload will work; for IMAGES. I used it to put a background picture on my pg, but I get an “error uploading …” window whenever i’ve tried to upload a video from my computer files.
The tutorial is exactly how I used this tool, but it just sits there, for at least a minute, then the list of pics I’ve uploaded appears, with the error notation. I use the browser uploader; the flash won’t even read my files. HELP!The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Well, do you have:
a) the space upgrade
b) the videopress upgrade?
If you don’t, you can’t upload video files here.

If that’s the case, why the “Media” option? Why not just Images? The upgrades are costly for my small budget. (thanks for your input)

We can embed videos from selected external sources without the videopress upgrade by using the Media Link. See here > http://en.support.wordpress.com/videos/

Appreciate the extended list; I have been able to do this.
My wanting to upload from MY computer, supposedly a function of this tool, is due to YouTubes “Thought Police”.
I suspect they target Conservative and Christian sites, with reason. I have a pg there, but have had media from my files I wanted to post censored by (what I feel) arbitrary and inconsistant “copyright” rulings.One example: Since when is a thirty eight yr old music track a copyright infringement? Unless the law was significantly changed, copyrights are for 28 yrs.
