Medium Importer

  Hi,

  I have a self hosted wordpress site. I’ve installed Jetpack so I can use the WordPress.com interface on my site. I want to upload my Medium zip file to my wordpress site, but when I go to settings –> import it automatically takes me back to the admin console and the ‘Medium Importer’ tool is not on this list. I’ve tried searching the plugin directory but I can’t find it. I have over 100 posts I want to import from Medium and so far, I can’t find anything that works.

  Hi there,

  The Medium importer is built directly into WordPress.com. It’s not part of Jetpack, and there’s not a plugin for it for self-hosted sites that I know of.

  So what I would suggest is that you import your Medium file to a site on WordPress.com first. You can create a new free site for that purpose.

  Once that’s done, you can then create a regular .xml export file from that site, and import that to your self-hosted site using the WordPress importer.
