Members area?
-
Is it possible to set up a WP.com site where some pages are members only? It’s for an amateur choir. Most of the site needs to be public but various pages and posts are only for choir members.
I’m not keen on using password protection for those pages as it would mean everyone using the same password and having to remember new ones if it has to be changed.
I can do it on a WP.org site. But think overall WP.com would be easier for them to manage long-term or if something happens to me, without having to know what to do if things break after an update, plugins conflicts and so on.
Is it possible? Any other ideas?
Only think I’ve come up with so far, but don’t know if it would work, is to set up two blog, one public, one private. And have links eg in the sidebar so people can easily move from one to the other.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there. I’m afraid password protection or separate blogs are the only ways to do this. There is no way to have members only areas on WordPress.com sites. Keep in mind that if you go the private blog route, each member will also need to register their own WordPress.com account to be able to access that blog.
On WordPress.org you can install plugins to achieve this, but we can’t use plugins on WordPress.com.
