'Members Login' section
-
Does WordPress have the facility to have a ‘Members Login’ on my website? A section where only members of my website can log into to see special info only.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi,
Within WordPress.com, you can setup a second site that is set to “private”. Only users that you have invited will be able to see that site.
To do so, visit the My Blogs link at the top of WordPress.com (direct link: http://wordpress.com/my-blogs/ ) and use the link there to create your second site. Once it is created, you can change the visibility settings via the Settings->Reading page of the new site’s dashboard.
From the Users tab in the new site’s dashboard, you can then invite other folks to view your site.
There are other options for folks on the self-hosted WordPress.org, depending on how advanced you’d like a member’s only area to be (more about the difference between WordPress.com and WordPress.org)
If you have any questions or need anything else, please let me know. Cheers!

Thanks very much, it worked! Two more questions please….
1. Is there a limit of how many users I can invite?
2. How do you display a ‘Username and Login’ on the other site to make it easy for people to login? Many thanks!

Howdy,
1. In general there is no limit, though we ask you to limit the number of pending invites (invites that have not been responded to by the recipient) as we have automated checks to ensure a site isn’t trying to spam people with unsolicited invites.
2. What do you mean by displaying an user name? In terms of linking, in general, you can have a “Visit the member’s only section by logging in with your WordPress.com account” linked to your other site. If someone is logged in, they’ll see the site without having to login. If they’re not, they’ll see a message that the site is private and can click a link to login.
Cheers!
